Maia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sten looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sten looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sten!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Sten is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Maia is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sten's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sten's back!

Maia has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Sten has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Maia will probably get the nod.

What can Sten do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Sten is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Maia off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Even with his hooks in, Maia manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Pie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vandrel's waist but Vandrel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pie off to one side.
Pie takes a jab right on the kisser.
Pie shoots in and drives through. Vandrel sprawls well.
Pie blocks a low kick nicely.
Vandrel misses with the combination.
Pie misses with a takedown attempt - Vandrel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Seth Vandrel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shepard Pie.
Vandrel throws a nice looking combination but Pie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pie has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pie there as he acknowledges the shot.

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dre Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Laan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Battle might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to VICTORY REMIX. Laan has chosen Holiday as his entrance music. Nick Laan struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Battle throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Laan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Battle cracks Laan with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Laan looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Battle finish him?

Laan is rocked!
Battle lands a brutal uppercut that launches Laan off his feet! Laan tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
