With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Karaev!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seppala tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Karaev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Karaev lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Karaev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Seppala swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Seppala had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Karaev is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Seppala Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Karaev's back instead.
