John J tries to escape but Rush is in control.

Rush is trying to get an arm triangle but John J is defending well.
John J is trying to buck Rush off.

Rush is working to tighten is grip on John J's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. John J has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Rush is really squeezing tight and eventually John J passes out! Rush breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

King could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hood closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Potter did well to prevent Hood getting side control.
Hood is trying to control the action in half guard but Potter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Potter is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hood trying to control the action but Potter is working from the bottom.
Hood thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Potter's head.
Hood is just content to waste time from the top position. Potter takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hood is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Potter is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Potter has escaped and now he's on top!

Potter lands with an uppercut that bounces Hood off the cage and back into rage.
Hood shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Potter sprawls well. Potter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hood gets slowly back to his feet.

Hood with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Potter to score with a decent uppercut.

Hood shoots in looking for a takedown. Potter tries to sprawl out of it but Hood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Potter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carter Potter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordon Hood.
Potter looks to land a combination. Hood sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Hood looks gassed!
Hood throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Potter slips under a jab from Hood.
Potter stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hood tries to close the distance and clinch but Potter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Potter moves away from the strike by Hood.
Hood takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potter throws a low kick but it's checked well by Hood.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hood fails with a takedown attempt.
Hood loads up on a big right hand but Potter slips the punch.
Hood fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Potter avoids it really well and circles away.
Potter is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Hood takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Potter's corner calls for a 1-2. Potter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Potter throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Hood stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Potter follows into mount!

Hood is rocked!

It looks like Gordon Hood has been cut.
Potter drops a big elbow. That's hurt Hood! More shots from Potter and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carter Potter!
