The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avanesov scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Connor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Connor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Avanesov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Connor wants to finish this one by submission but Avanesov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Connor.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Connor is going olschool here, as he tries to force Avanesov to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Avanesov shrugs it off.
Avanesov is desperately trying to improve his position but Connor has a good base and remains in mount.
Avanesov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Connor lands a big shot there that rocks Avanesov but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Connor gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Connor apologises and we restart here on the feet.

I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
