The crowd seem to be enjoying Maggio's choice of entrance music: Speak Softly Love. Alex Zaldiar had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Hooah walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hicks checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Hooah fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dwayne Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Hooah.
Hicks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Junior changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nguyen tries to avoid it but Junior manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nguyen to the ground. Nguyen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Junior shoots in looking for a takedown. Nguyen tries to sprawl out of it but Junior keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nguyen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Junior tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nguyen paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nguyen thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Nguyen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Junior was covering up waiting for the punch and Nguyen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Nguyen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Junior to the mat! Junior manages to get full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Junior can't hide his disappointment, as Nguyen celebrates the victory.

Murphy goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

konicke throws a series of punches but Murphy avoids them all with ease.
konicke thows a body kick. Murphy tries to catch it but that hurt him.

and konicke finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

konicke is pushing down on Murphy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Murphy is fighting to maintain full guard but konicke has managed to sneak the leg through.
Murphy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for konicke on the ground.

konicke passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Murphy!

Carter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but da Silva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
da Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
The fighters circle momentarily. Carter darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carter moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Oh da Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Carter feints a jab and as da Silva dips his head, Carter unleashes a brutal head kick that catches da Silva right on the jaw! Timbeeer! da Silva falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Carter smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
