The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reckus swats away the attempt to clinch by Laari.

Reckus gets a takedown into half guard.

Reckus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Reckus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Laari defends it well.
Laari flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Reckus is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Laari is looking for a sweep. Reckus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Laari makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Laari.

Reckus drops back looking for a leg! Laari is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Laari manages to kick Reckus off! Reckus jumps back into Laari's guard.

Reckus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Reckus thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Laari escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reckus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Reckus drops back looking for a leg! Laari is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Laari manages to kick Reckus off! Reckus jumps back into Laari's guard.
Reckus wants to pass the guard but Laari is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Laari misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Laari tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reckus swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Reckus fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Laari sprawls well initially but Reckus persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Laari wants to improve his position but Reckus is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reckus lands strikes from half guard.

Reckus wants to work for an arm triangle but Laari is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reckus is breathing heavily.
Laari trying to hold on to Reckus's head to control him but Reckus postures up.
Laari has hold of Reckus's hands but Reckus slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Laari is defending against the submission attempts here by Reckus.

Laari really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reckus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Laari moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Reckus pushes down on Laari's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Reckus is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Laari sees it coming and defends easily.
Laari trying to control but Reckus postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laari is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Laari is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Reckus is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Laari has managed to free his arm - good work.
Laari throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Reckus lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Reckus drops an elbow to the side of Laari's head.
Laari slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Laari wants to sweep here but Reckus controlling him for the moment.

Laari is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Reckus drops back looking for a leg! Laari is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Laari manages to kick Reckus off! Reckus jumps back into Laari's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trainius Reckus dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Laari trying to control the position from guard on top but Reckus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Laari is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Reckus has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Laari is looking to defend but Reckus has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Laari! Reckus pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Laari taps out and this one is all over!
