The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mundy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Reaper is trying to stand. BOOM! Mundy connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Reaper is squirming around, avoiding Mundy's attempts to control the action. Reaper wants to control but Mundy is having none of it. Mundy landing strikes, looking to finish! Reaper tries to lock up and control but Mundy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Reaper defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mundy. Reaper has given up his back.
Reaper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mundy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mundy is working the ground and pound. Can Reaper escape? Reaper is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Mundy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Reaper trying to control the action but Mundy just sinks the hooks in.

Hollyfield changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Storm tries to avoid it but Hollyfield manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Storm to the ground. 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Anderson Alves! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos gets a clinch. Santos unloads a knee to the mid-section. Alves lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Alves is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Santos pulls him back up using the underhooks. Alves looks gassed! Santos lands a knee to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santos lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Santos ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Santos no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Santos had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Alves is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Santos Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Alves's back instead. I really don't envy Alves right now.
Santos looking for the choke but no joy. Alves is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Santos is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Santos gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Santos gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Santos apologises and we restart here on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos gets in close and instigates a clinch. Santos tries to land a knee to the head but Alves blocks with his arms.

Santos throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Alves blocks it with crossed arms. Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Santos tries to clinch up. Alves fails with a takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Santos as Alves shoots in. Brian Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Alves. Alves shoots in and drives through. Santos sprawls well. Santos fails to land the takedown. Santos tries to clinch up but Alves circles away and keeps his distance.

Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Alves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Santos circles away. Santos tries to clinch but Alves is having none of it. Alves avoids the head kick by Santos.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Santos has his takedown stuffed and Alves counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alves's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alves's back! Santos working for the choke. Alves turns into Santos and is now in his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos wants to get back to his feet but Alves is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Alves missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Santos working for submissions but it's allowed Alves to get to half guard.
Alves throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alves on the ground. Alves wants to take a breather but Santos is having none of it. Santos is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Alves is looking for a kimura. Santos is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Alves passes to full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alves manages to capitalize on a mistake by Santos to take his back! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santos defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

That was a close round but I would say that Brian Santos will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Santos clinches but Alves breaks the clinch and Alves counters with a slapping leg kick. Santos wants to clinch and Alves counters with a nice leg kick. Alves shoots in looking for a takedown. Santos tries to sprawl out of it but Alves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Santos scores with a head kick.
Santos closes the distance looking to clinch and Alves counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alves is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Santos defends it well. Alves stands up out of the half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos looks to land a combination. Alves sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Alves shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Santos. Alves has a takedown stuffed. Brian Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Alves. Santos tries to clinch but Alves moves away and Alves counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Alves tries to score a body lock takedown but Santos shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Alves wants to break the clinch but can't.

Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Santos fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Alves drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Santos is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
