The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Freeman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Freeman throws out a loose jab but Carter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Carter is looking to clinch but Freeman is avoiding it.
Carter doesn't manage to clinch there - Freeman circles away.
Carter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Carter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Freeman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Carter is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Freeman pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Carter turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Carter manages to end up in side control.

Carter stands up and we're back to a striking position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Carter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Freeman won't be happy with that.

A lull in the action here.
Carter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chace Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nic Caswell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dream On. Nic Caswell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Hawk drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Caswell gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hawk keeps control of Caswell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Hawk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hawk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Caswell smiles and moves away.
Caswell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Caswell had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hawk is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Caswell Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hawk's back instead.

Hawk pivots and extends the arm, Caswell falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hawk! Well done that man!

Romano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Owens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Owens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Owens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Romano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Owens wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Romano seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Owens is tapping! Wow, great finish!

Assman pushes a forearm under Cezar's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cezar is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
