Thomas swings around for an armbar but Syndrome sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thomas's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Syndrome uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Syndrome tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Syndrome to the ground. Syndrome escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Thomas doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Riggs Thomas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Syndrome stops Thomas from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Thomas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Syndrome has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Syndrome!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thomas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Syndrome doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Syndrome manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Syndrome throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Syndrome counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Thomas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thomas lands in his opponent's guard.
