Thain is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Drake is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Drake flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Thain anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Drake and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Thain slips an arm under Drake chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Thain has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Thain is squeezing on Drake like an anaconda would it's prey. Drake fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Southworth crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maia - the referee stops the clock and Southworth gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maia. Southworth manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Cory Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maia looks to land a combination. Southworth sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
