Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Demian Gaea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Guy struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 267.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Jay Guy will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy tries for a takedown but Gaea sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Guy has a takedown stuffed.
Guy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Gaea could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Guy works over Gaea with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaea had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Guy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gaea Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Guy's back instead.

Gaea has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Guy has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gaea is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Guy is pushing down on Gaea's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gaea is fighting to maintain full guard but Guy has managed to sneak the leg through.

Guy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gaea swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gaea is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Guy has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gaea wants to pass the guard but Guy is defending well.

Guy has given up his back. Will we see Gaea going for some submissions?

Gaea postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Guy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gaea, into his guard.
Guy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gaea's guard.
Guy is breathing heavily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gaea manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gaea is trying to control the position but Guy postures up.
Guy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gaea throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Gaea might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gaea bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Guy's guard.

Gaea drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gaea jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gaea pushes down on Guy's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Gaea works his foot free and advances to mount.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Gaea here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
A nice elbow there by Gaea.
Gaea has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Guy's face.
Gaea lands a big shot there that rocks Guy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Gaea is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Gaea extends the arm and Guy is forced to tap!
