Stamp tries to clinch but Kawakami is having none of it.
Abel Stamp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stamp misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kawakami had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Stamp is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kawakami Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Stamp's back instead.
Stamp tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Stamp is looking to improve his position but Kawakami isn't that keen on the idea.

Kawakami cracks Stamp with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Kawakami is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stamp is just riding it out for now. Kawakami eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stamp seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kawakami does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Stamp might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kawakami kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
