The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maloy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Penns swivels and escapes.
Maloy throws a right hand that Penns ducks under and follows up with a left that Penns also avoids with ease.
Maloy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maloy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Maloy misses with a series of wild punches.

Maloy misses with a takedown attempt - Penns sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Penns wants to clinch up but Maloy keeps it at a distance.

Penns tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maloy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Some bone on bone action there as Penns checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Penns walks into a stiff left hand from Maloy.

Maloy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Penns sprawls well initially but Maloy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maloy wants to free his trapped foot but Penns is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Maloy could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Maloy is looking to take a break and control but Penns is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Maloy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Maloy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Maloy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Penns gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maloy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maloy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

and Maloy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Maloy tries to free his leg and advance position but Penns is retaining full guard.
Maloy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Penns's guard.
Maloy uses his free foot to push down on Penns's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penns.

Man anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Pierobon and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Man slips an arm under Pierobon chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Man has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Man is squeezing on Pierobon like an anaconda would it's prey. Pierobon fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
