Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hynynen, right into the meat.
Hynynen pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Tron drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Hynynen's head, knocking him out cold! Tron is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

Grove throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jax's waist but Jax gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grove off to one side.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn shoots for a double leg takedown but Machida sprawls well. He's pushed Penn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Penn closes the distance and clinches up with Machida, looking for a takedown. Penn pushes Machida against the cage but Machida circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A right-left combo lands from Penn.
Penn fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JD Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Penn is looking to clinch but Machida is avoiding it.
Penn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily.
Penn misses with a takedown attempt - Machida sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt.
Penn throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Machida lands a jab-cross combination.
Penn is breathing heavily.
Machida throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Penn is rocked!

Machida throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Oh Penn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A head kick by Machida - that's a beauty! Penn is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Machida can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Nice takedown defense from Holt. No joy for Kang on that attempt.
Holt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Holt lands with a nice body kick.
Horrible takedown by Kang or perhaps it was just good defense by Holt which made him look bad.
Steve Holt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denis Kang.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holt lands with a thumping leg kick.

A solid body kick from Holt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Holt punishes Kang's body with a nice straight punch.
Holt shoots in and bounces Kang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Holt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Holt chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holt trying to control but Kang is working from the bottom.

Holt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Holt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kang for as long as he can get away with.
Kang is looking for a sweep. Holt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kang looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Holt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Holt has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Holt working over Kang with some ground and pound. Kang looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kang is rocked!
Holt slips a nice elbow through Kang's hands, connecting with Kang's forehead.
Kang is still in real trouble! Can Holt finish him?
Holt lands strikes from half guard.
Holt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Holt has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kang defend it? Holt steps over the head and cranks it - Kang is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Holt!
