Nikula throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker lands a left and a right that send Sallon crashing to the mat, dazed. Walker thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sallon is looking for submissions but instead, Walker has regained full guard.
Walker is wriggling around but Sallon manages to pass to half guard.

pongha shoots in and drives through. Hughes sprawls well.
Hughes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? pongha is fending him off so far but Hughes persists. Nope, pongha circles away and we're back to standing.
pongha is looking to clinch but Hughes is avoiding it.
Hughes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from pongha enables Hughes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. pongha manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Oh but pongha is tightening it up a little... Hughes has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Hughes reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Hughes taps out! nice BJJ there by pongha!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Taikina crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Yen - the referee stops the clock and Taikina gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Yen . Taikina manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
