The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slater shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tzaraath pinned against the cage. Tzaraath gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Slater with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Tzaraath to score with a decent uppercut.
Slater fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tzaraath avoids it really well and circles away.
Tzaraath lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slater circles away quickly and effectively.

Matsumato connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Matsumato closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Matsumato lands in his opponent's guard.
Matsumato slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Matsumato remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Matsumato has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Matsumato has hold of Irwin's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Irwin tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Matsumato cranks the arm and Irwin screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Irwin, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Anaconda takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ruska throws a poor cross that misses
and Anaconda cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Anaconda connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ruska moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Anaconda falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ruska counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Ruska counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Artum Ruska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Anaconda might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Martel counters with a big uppercut that knocks Huge off his feet! Martel dives into side control looking to finish!

Huge is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Huge is looking for a sweep.

Martel is trying to get an arm triangle but Huge is defending well.
Martel trying to control the position but Huge is working away.
Huge manages to work his way to half guard, despite Martel's best efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huge is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Martel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Martel seems to be working for a kimura but Huge defends the submission attempt.
Huge taking some punishment here, with Martel in his half guard.

That has opened up Hugo Huge's cut even more.
Huge is refusing to be controlled, as Martel sits in half guard.
Martel is nestled in close to Huge, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hugo Huge's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hugo Huge's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
