Hyashi’s Lounge in Los Angeles hosted Bedlam 62 on Friday November 25th. Before I start with this review, let me give you some stats: A total of nine fights took place. One title was on the line in our main event heavyweight title fight. The final event rating was a 100.80. Nine hundred and ninety-one fans showed up to watch the fight card. The total disclosed fighter pay was $78,750. There were, or have not yet been, any of the night awards awarded to any fighters.

Main Event
Ludovic Presle vs Michael Gromowski 265 Ibs Title Fight

Our heavyweight title fight of the night turned out to be a good one. Although having a disappointing ending, the fight itself proved to be very entertaining. Gromowski came out way more aggressive than Presle. Gromowski came out and quickly landed a nice body kick, followed by a few strikes, giving Presle a nice cut in the process. Gromowski then went on to land a takedown. His ground pound proved ineffective, throwing a total of three strikes and landing none. After about a minute on the ground, the ref decided to stand the fighters up. Gromowski threw a few strikes and then decided to take this one into the clinch. Gromowski kept busy in the clinch and mixed up his strikes. He threw punches, elbows, and knees. He was able to open up Presle’s cut after two knees to the face and an elbow. Close to the end of the round, Presle was able to break the clinch, only to have Gromowski clinch right back up after. The round ended to standing applause from the fans, Gromowski most likely taking it on all scorecards. Round two was all Gromowski again. He was able to overwhelm Presle with effective kickboxing. After a nice uppercut from Gromowski at about 58 seconds into the round, the ref called in the doctor to look at Presle’s cut. The cut was too much for the doctor, who called the fight right then and there to make Gromowski the new Bedlam heavyweight champion.

My prediction: Presle by KO
Outcome: Gromowski by TKO (cut) after 0:58 of round 2
Final Fight Rating: 100 %

Scott Morgan vs Liam James 205 Ibs Fight

Our co-main event was a lopsided affair. The fight started with three unsuccessful takedown attempts and two unsuccessful clinch attempts from James. Morgan wanted to keep this fight on the outside, and he did that well. After stuffing James’ third takedown attempt, Morgan was able to counter with a nice uppercut to James’, giving him a nice cut on his face. After getting another takedown stuffed, Morgan was able to catch James with a nice right hand, sending James to the ground. Morgan jumped on top to try and finish, however, his ground and pound was ineffective. He eventually decided to stand back up, forcing James up as well. After a nice counter outside leg kick, Morgan threw a combination which dropped James for a second time in this round. Morgan went in for the kill, but the ref jumped in and called the fight at a minute and 36 seconds.

My prediction: Morgan by decision
Outcome: Morgan by TKO (strikes) after 1:36 of round 1
Final Fight Rating: 47 %

Matthew Michael Kirby vs David Peters 205 Ibs Fight

Our 2nd fight of the main event was a very exciting fight, a contender for fight of the night. At first both fighters came out looking to strike. Kirby right away put this fight into the clinch just moments after the first bell rang. Both fighters kept exchanging strikes in the first minute of the round. After a failed takedown attempt by Peters, Kirby circled away to get this fight back to the outside, only to move back into the clinch after a few exchanges. Peters was able to land a nice elbow on Kirby, which gave him a good cut on his face. From then on, Peters took control of the fight, landing nice strikes from the clinch. Peters tried to get back to the outside, but ended up gassing himself out. This led the way for Peters to land a few more strikes in the clinch and rock Kirby. Kirby was never really able to recover himself, and after Peters landed a nice uppercut, Kirby dropped to the canvas. Peters threw a few more strikes from the ground before the ref jumped in to stop this fight at 2:19 of the first round.

My prediction: Peters by KO
Outcome: Peters by TKO (strikes) after 2:19 of round 1
Final Fight Rating:

Jensen Stuart vs Rich Omega 205 Ibs Fight

To kick off the main event, we had a fight between two light heavyweight fighters. The fight started pretty even, with both fighters trying to be aggressive. Omega suffered a cut early in the fight after a nice jab and cross from Stuart. Stuart was able to clinch up just before the first minute of the fight and eventually got a trip takedown. Both fighters kept busy on the ground, with Omega trying for two submissions off his back and Stuart trying for an americana on top. Eventually Omega was able to get the fight back to the standup. After that period, it was basically all Omega. At about 2 minutes and 45 seconds, Omega clinched up, followed by a trip takedown of his own. He was able to get a leg for an ankle lock, however Stuart defended it well. Stuart then tried two submissions of his toward the end of the round, but they were unsuccessful. The next two rounds were dominated by Omega. He was able to control the fight and move it wherever he wanted, wether it was in the clinch or on the ground. Halfway through the first minute of round 2, Omega was able to rock Stuart from side control, however, Stuart recovered himself. Omega attempted to finish the fight with submissions over the next two rounds, however, Stuart had too good of submission defense to let that happen.

My prediction: Omega by decision
Outcome: Omega by unanimous decision: 30-27, 30-27, 30-27
Final Fight Rating: 100 %
