VERSUS VENDETTA VI PREVIEW

Event Preview: VERSUS VENDETTA 6
VERSUS (GEG)
2012-07-07, London, Knights Court
Author:Drake Bradstone

Versus Vendetta VI – 7th July (Knights Court – London)

Brought to you by VERSUS in association with Gti 1337 “Win with Style”

Fight One – Steve Fisher (21-17) v Richard Sharpe (13-9) – 265+lb

“O'er the hills and o'er the main, Through Flanders Portugal and Spain
King George commands and we obey - Over the hills and far away”

Steve Fisher, who is currently being managed by Fozzy front man Chris Jericho, will be looking to impress in his Versus debut. Whilst showing off his magic white shirt and shorts combination, the former UKMMA verteran will need to avoid the musket like striking of one Richard Sharpe. Sharpe has made his way through the ranks and has appeared on International cards for the likes of Syn EURO. Sharpe is also famous for drinking fire water inbetween rounds, just because he can. Look for Sharpe to try and use his superior wrestling which will be interesting considering “Primetimes” BJJ credentials. RIFLES!!! Fall out!

Fight Two – Sean Yuen (16-9) v Nathanial Hornblower (11-14) – 155lb

There will be no issues for either of these gentlemen in getting some pun-nani this weekend. Both these guys know how to dress to impress the ladies, Sean with his “Grey Suit Ensemble” and Nathanial donning the “White Evening Jacket” both available from Fossington & Blythe. However, either fighter will be looking to ruin the other ones chances of “draining the main vein” by putting a hole in the others face. Neither have really had any success when it comes to “hole punching” and it’s hard to see a knockout in this fight. I for one will be enjoying the stylish walkins.

Fight Three – Luis Barrera (4-6) v Thurston Moore (13-7) – 145lb

After defeating a world class boxer last time out, this next fight for Luis Barrera looks much easier on paper. However, Thurston Moore has knocked out 92% of the men he has beaten so far and will test the slow starting Barrera no end. This is the type of fighter that Barrera needs to beat convincingly if he wants to be taken seriously and start getting on shows such as Graham Norton and Before the Bell.

Fight Four – Ben Backman (15-8) v Alex Brannigan (18-7) – 205lb

Two more elegantly dressed gentlemen here, however when they are in the octagon the sleeves are well and truly rolled up. I mean 20 OTN awards between them of which 14 are Fight of the Night. Both these fighters have a purple belt which might aswell be holding up their pants because neither man has used their submission skills in an offensive manner yet. Redge Coldon, who you might know from UPG New York or you might not, has backed his purple haired assassin through the ups and downs and a win here may see him invest in some more F&B merchandise.

Fight Five – Malcolm Hopkins (16-14) v Clinical Cpw (25-10) - 185lb

This fight must make Ed Banger smile, we have two men who before they came to Versus would have headlined a London main event at the H20 Arena. However, since signing up for the Elite league here at Versus both men have struggled to make an impact. Cpw has bagged himself a hat trick of losses from his last three outings and will need to evade Hopkin's trademark "Kimura Lock" if he is to avoid a fourth... Hopkins will be the most confident of the two after his last win over a tough competitor Serego Alighiero. Do you think Malcolm was gievn that nick name before he was made to tap out on his debut?

Fight Six - Oscar Salcedo (15-8) v David Jensen (10-4) - 265+lb

CBK v CBK
Jensen has yet to have worked the judges (the lazy b@stards) with 10 KO victories, I for one am excited to see what this young man can do here in Versus. But before he can attempt to take Versus by storm he will need to settle this sibling rivalry. Malcom X won't want his own team mate knocking him out of the CBK top 5 picture which a loss of this magnitude bright bring. Instead expect Malcom to send out Oscar in his best condition yet with the orders of "kill or be killed" and when the blood is dry and the tears have shed the better man with offer his victor the hand of friendship.

Fight Seven - Milton Myers (20-7) v Jake Ryan (22-13) - 185lb

Myers is another product of Syn EURO who is making huge strides towards a shot at a real mans championship but first he must take out Versus' version of Fifty Shades of Grey Jake Ryan. Don't get put off by Jake's zebra print gimp mask that he oftens wears to the ring, that's his meditation period... aparently that's when Jake is coming up with his gameplan. You know that this fight is the beginning of the business end of the show because I can't pick a winner!!! Milton Myers may edge it after an impressive display against Mr Chrome last time out but I do have a soft spot for Ryan who has been a big time player in the past and could only be one big performance away from a streak which takes him into the title picture.

Fight Eight - Kareem Abdul Jabbar(29-10) v Kurt Karlsson (14-7) - Super HW Championship

KAJ has gone on the record to say that this is his last Versus fight win or lose for a while, I didn't have the courage to ask what he will be doing with his time off, like getting involved in the Brock Lesnar/Triple H storyline at WWE or just lying ont he Jamaican beach in his speedos, but he is definatley not taking this fight likely before he leaves. I do agree with Mr Black's analysis that KAJ should be too much for Karlsson, just like in their first fight, but I do see this fight venturing slightly further. One things for sure KAJ doesn't want to be gone long, with all the signings that ED has made recently I wouldn't put it past the "Vince McMahon" of the MMA world in bringing in tougher opponents in the heavier divisions before long. To see my interview with the current Super Heavyweight Champion KAY, follow the link at the end of this preview.

Co-Main Event - Zack Skyshriek (11-2) v Kauko Partio (13-7) - Lightweight Championship

A rematch, but as Kauko has pointed out this time it's over 5 rounds and has stated that Zack will make a costly mistake which will lead to him being submitted or knocked out. To see the full interviews of both fighters AND an analysis by Mr Black go to the forum link at teh bottom of this preview.

Main Event - David Laroux (11-2) v Troy McCoy (11-3) - 205lb

Ladies and gentlemen, it's that time again, it's time for the main event of the evening. A mouth watering match which will determine the number one contender for the Light Heavyweight Championship... well only if Troy McCoy wins. With the legendary monopolising manager Al Cohol having his fingers in both the current 205lb champions and david Laroux's pies, a match between the two stable mates will probably never take place. Tro McCoy should see this as a compuetr game and he is on the second to last baddie boss... the bodyguard to M Bison, like a Vega or a Sagat!!! If he can defeat Laroux a shot at the gold awaits. You can also catch the words of Troy McCoy in the spin off Versus show "Before the Bell"... just folow the link below.

Well that's it fight fans make sure to get your front row seats to VERSUS VENDETTA 6 and after this eye popping event stay tuned for Wednesday Wipeout 7 where the Heavyweight clash of the ages will take place between Convicted Kane Williams and the Current Heavyweight Champion Polish Top Team's own Llwelyn Carter, this should be a cracker AND I am hoping to get their comments ahead of their encounetr this Tuesday on my Before the Bell mini show.
