 Extreme 2 Preview and Predictions

Extreme MMA presents another action packed evening of Mixed Martial Arts action live at Wild Bob's Bar in Hilo... its Extreme 2! Shtaaf Reimish here to break down all the fights as EMMA brings its second event of the rebranded Extreme series. While the card does not hold any title bouts on it, a title holder enters the octagon for his first fight as the champ and there are plenty of other intriguing match-ups between fighters looking to make a statement for future title shot opportunities. Lets get the previews rolling.

#11 MadDog "Axe Murderer" McMahon (0-1-0) vs #10 Jeff "Pimpdaddy" Parker (0-1-0) 265lbs

We kick off the night's action with a heavyweight bout between two fighters who both lost their pro debuts at DFL III: Christmas Day, MadDog "Axe Murderer" McMahon and Jeff "Pimpdaddy" Parker. McMahon was thoroughly dominated and then KO'd in the second round by Renee LaFleur in his debut in EMMA. The Brazilian native will look to rebound in his sophomore bout using his wrestling background to combat Parker's equal wrestling strength. Parker didn't even last as long as McMahon on Christmas Day as he too was dominated until the ref stopped the fight as Larry Spizer was pummeling him with punches. The Newark native may have trouble getting inside McMahon's reach advantage, but will when he does, he will look to strike or take down the Brazilian. With both guys looking at this as a bounce back opportunity, it should be a good fight. McMahon by KO.

#2 Fabiano "The Wanderer" Werdum (1-0-0) vs #6 Steven Hoffman (0-0-0) 145lbs

The second fight of the night features two young featherweights looking to take a step in the right direction towards a future title shot: Fabiano "The Wanderer" Werdum takes on Steven Hoffman. We last saw Werdum in the inaugural EMMA event, 'DFL: The Beginning', where he submitted Yoncy Lowvinceski via the Rear Naked Choke, 1 second before the end of the first round. The American teenager will look to use his prowess on the mat against his German counterpart. Hoffman is making his MMA debut after a short run at the TWGC over Christmas. After a Christmas Day victory over Brayan Fernadez, he was defeated the next day by Johnny Brot in the Rio regionals. He signed with EMMA shortly after and will make his debut fight here at Extreme 2. Hoffman may not have a strength in any particular area, but he also does not have a specific weakness either. Werdum may be one win away from a title shot against the champ Roland McSnifferpippitz so the stakes are high. Werdum by Submission.

#4 Tommy "Bahama Mama" Munson (1-0-0) vs #3 Dom "A" Nik (4-5-0) 185lbs

Next up on the card we feature a middleweight bout between two well rounded fighters, Tommy "Bahama Mama" Munson and Dom "A" Nik, who are both looking to state their case for the currently vacant middleweight belt. Munson comes to us after just one fight in the QFC in which he dominated Cranky Bich from start to finish en route to a unanimous decision. The 25-year-old Brazilian has a strong wrestling background, and if his pro debut is any indication, he'll want to take this fight as often as possible to the mat. Nik comes into this fight looking for retribution after losing the inaugural title fight in the EMMA middleweight division against Saul Goodman. The young veteran of 9 pro fights has won all of his fight by submission so it should make for quite a ground battle. Look for this fight to hit the mat early and often. We'll see who can submit who first. Nik by Submission.

#6 Dante Apollyon (0-0-0) vs (C) Chris "Lefty" Byrd (3-0-0)

In the co-main event of the evening, we feature the heavyweight titleholder Chris "Lefty" Byrd in a non-championship bout against MMA newcomer Dante Apollyon. Byrd has done everything right since turning to pro MMA after growing up in the boxing circuit. He won his first to fights in the QFC with his heavy fists, and then after signing with EMMA, KO'd John Watson 57 seconds into the first round at DFL II to claim the vacant heavyweight belt. Look for the Hilo-based American to keep this fight standing at all costs and use those fists again to destroy his opponent. Speaking of his opponent, Appolyon comes to us out of Israel and will look to use his remarkable ground game to combat Byrd's boxing abilities. The 19-year-old Vegas-based fighter is making his pro debut here at Extreme 2, and will need to find a way to bring Byrd to the floor if he wants to set up a potential rematch for the belt. While the belt is not up for grabs due to this being Apollyon's first pro fight, this will be nothing short of a history-maker, as both fighters have what it takes to win. Apollyon by Submission.

#1 Darren Brown (1-0-0) vs #2 Bear Trapp (1-0-0) 135lbs

And finally, for the main event of the evening we feature the bantamweight fight that everyone is anxious to see, Darren Brown takes on Bear Trapp for a shot at Te Rauparaha and his EMMA bantamweight belt. Both fighters are coming off victories in their EMMA debuts and want to make a statement in this fight so that EMMA owner Mr Cropper has no choice but to give them the title fight that they both so eagerly desire. Brown first fought in the EMMA at DFL II where he dominated and then submitted Michal Frydrych 1:41 into round 1. The New York-based fighter will once again look to use his Brazilian Ju-Jitsu background in the cage against his opponent Saturday. Trapp, who reigns out of Reno Nevada, first fought in EMMA at DFL III last month where he TKO'd Eric Cadric 2:57 into the first round with a number of ferocious knees. The teenager has an extensive Muay Thai background that he will once again call upon in this bout. Should be a great main event with both fighters needing to put on a show and force Cropper's hand for a title shot. Trapp by TKO.

Well MMA Tycoon fans, the card may be small, but the action will be unstoppable! EMMA will once again prove that it is a high octane organization will a deep field of high end talent looking to take their game to a whole new level! January 10th cannot come soon enough!
