Event Review: HONOR FC 10 Booth Vs Kermode
HONOR Fighting Championship
2014-04-05, Las Vegas, The Palmtree
Attendance:2,200, Event Rating:231
Author:Tony Rossi

I want all of you to give yourself a pat on the back. This was the biggest event to date for Honor Fighting Championship. We blew the roof off the place and that is something for everyone to be happy about. Now that we know how successful the event was let’s take a look at the why.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

"The Real O.G." Ragnar Lothbrok defeats Felix "The KING" Cruz

Well there is not a good way to explain this fight without telling you about the entire fight. Lothbrok opens up landing a body kick and then a one two combo that cut Cruz. He then followed that up with a stiff punch followed by a head kick and that’s all she wrote for Cruz. Lothbrok disposes of Cruz with ease in twelve seconds while landing at one hundred percent. Offical decision Ragnar Lothbrok wins at :12 of the first round by knockout via head kick.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

King Pin defeats Coors "Silver Bullet" Light

This fight lasted a little bit longer than the first. Light took control early with a clinch and a takedown. On the ground it was all Light and then he just decided to stand up. Light tried to go back to the clinch but Pin was able to get the upper hand during the body lock and he laid into Light. Finally after just shoving Light off of him we got to see Pin light up light. He swarmed Light with strikes A clean right hand smashed Lights face in and he dropped into a heap. Pin wins the fight via knockout by way of punch at 2:56 of the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

Diego "Firefox ak" Nunes defeats Alexi "Angry divorce child" Kint

This wasn’t even a real fight. I mean it was a fight, two men battled each other throwing punches, kicks, elbows and the other good stuff. It was just a one sided affaire. The first round was the closest round as Kint was able to get the fight to the ground right away and he dominated from there. About half way through the round it went back to standing and Nunes was able to battle back and steel the round. In the second round Kint scored a few takedowns but Nunes was able to escape back to his feet everytime without taking any damage. While standing once again Nunes was able to steel the round as he was the much better striker. The third round was the oppisate of the first two, and no Kint did bit win the round. Nunes dominated the round before being taken down late. Throughout the entire fight Kint did little to nothing while standing up, and he was not active enough to keep the fight down on the ground. I scored this fight the same way as all three judges did, 30-27 for the winner by unanimous decision Nunes.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Jack Pot defeats Buzz "Mad Dog" Sawyer

Pot came out and landed a combo that Sawyer answered. Then another combo put Sawyer on the ground and Pot jumped on top. While on the ground Pot struggled to get the position he wanted but he was able to finally get there. Once he was in position Pot locked on a Kimura which forced Sawyer to tap out. Pot is the winner of the fight by submission via kimura at 0:54 of the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

"The Viking" Agnar Gorm defeats Greg Roddy

This was a good fight in my opinion. Gorm got the takedown nice and early. Once on the ground Gorm started to pound away but Roddy was looking to finish with a submission. Once Gorm was able to defend it he went back to the ground and pound just for Roddy to look for another submission from the bottom. Once again the Viking was able to defend it well and he went back to the ground and pound now for the third time. Roddy was overwhelmed on the ground and was no longer defending his self so the referee stopped the fight. The Viking Agnar Gorm is the winner of the fight by TKO via strikes at 1:44 of the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Takeshi Watanabe defeats Bruce Lee

This was an action packed fight but both of these fighters accuracy was a bit of a concern. These two combined for eight landed strikes out of twenty seven attempts. Even though the fans loved the fight I hate all the feints and the things that remind me of boxing so it was not a great one for me. Watanabe did land a shot that cut Lee open and he then followed that up by swarming Lee with strikes. A strait right hand landed right on the button and it floored Lee. Watanabe knew it was over and he didn’t even try to follow it up. The official decision Takeshi Watanabe is the winner by knockout via punch at 1:17 of the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Jean Descharme defeats Oberyn "Steel" Martell

This was along back forth battle between two great fighters. The first round was dominated by Descharme as he was able to get the fight down to the ground. Jean did work a submission but he was mainly looking for the stoppage as he was doing a lot of ground and pound. The second round could have been scored either way. Martell had the slight advantage during the standup portion of the round and he was able to prevent the fight from going to the ground for a good chunk of the round. Once on the ground Jean was landing some good strikes but Martell did look for the submission. It was a very close round but the judges and I scored it for Jean. Martell was able to execute his game plan more effesintly in the third round as he was able to prevent any takedown attempt while landing a bunch of stiff counter strikes. It was enough to win the round, but it was clearly not enough to win the fight. All three judges and I scored the fight 29-28 for the winner by unanimous decision Jean Descharme.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Kaito "Tsunami" Rin defeats Dom "Dueces Wild" Danky

The first round of this fight was scored by all the judges as a ten to ten round. Danky I thought did enough to win the round but I guess that is why I am a writer and not a judge. Dom dominated the standup but he did get taken down late in the round. Rin worked some submissions and a little ground and pound which as I said caused a ten to ten round, but personally I thought Dom won it. Dom did land a little bit in the second round but for the most part it was all Rin. If this round was another close one Rin certainly made sure he was going to win the round in the last minute or so. He was able to land a big combo that had Danky reeling and bleeding. Rin then went for the kill getting a takedown and then he looked to work a submission or two as the round came to an end. The third and final round of this fight was very similar to the other rounds as it was a closely contended round. I thought Dom was going to take this round and force a draw but in the last minute Rin scored the takedown and went to work on Dom. That was enough for him to win the round in the judges eyes. I scored the fight 29-28, but all three judges scored the fight 30-28 for the winner by decision Kaito Rin.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

"LHE" Albert Anastasia defeats "Scandinavian Nightmare" Rolad Kjeldsson

I know I have been talking up LHE in his last few fights, and I should be as I am a big fan of his. This fight is the exsact reason I am a big fan as he was able to land at one hundred percent and his takedown defense was one hundred percent as he was four of four on takedown defense. LHE not only landed at a high percentage but he also mixed up his strikes very well which made it even harder for Kjeldsson unable to minimize the damage. LHE was able to just overwhelm Rolad and the referee had to stop the fight at 1:13 of the first round giving Albert Anastasia the big TKO via strikes win.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Thomas Boothe defeats "Wittertainment" Mayo Kermode

Boothe was the more aggressive fighter in the first round but he was the one who had to preserver. He was cut in the middle of the round and it was pretty bad. Boothe also did not do very well in the clinch in the round, but he was able to give himself the edge with the judges by landing the stiffer strikes and throwing a lot more of them than his opponent. Boothe stayed away from the clinch as much as possiable in the second round while peppering Kermode. Kermode did put up a great fight against Boothe in the round but it was clearly dominated by Boothe. The third round opened up with a huge head kick that sent Kermode crashing to the mat but Boothe was not going to make the mistake of following Kermode to the ground. Once Kermode was able to get back to his feet Boothe rushed him with a flurry with most of it landing. The referee had to step in and stop this one at 0:17 of the third round declaring the winner by TKO via strikes Thomas Boothe.

As I said we had some great fights and you will not want to miss another HFC event! Thank you for reading and please check out my preview of Wednesday Warfare later on today.
