Event Preview: HEROIC 143 LOPEZ v STORMCROW
Steel Penn Fighting Temple
2014-03-08, Los Angeles, LA Memorial Colossuseum
Author:

Hello fight fans, I AM “SUNSHINE” Weston Markson, and this ugly sunva bitc% is my partna Rudy “The Box” Knife.  We are here to bring you Heroic 143 preview live from the Heroic Studios.  Heroic 143 will take place in the LA Memorial Colossuseum this Saturday March the 8th.  We expect over 93,000 screaming wannabe fighters to fill the stands and hundred of thousands more watching at home.

Rudy:  I think you stole my lines that’s what I was suppose to say, uh so this is going to be a great card, with some real good fights and stuff.  Yeah …………………uh screw it lets get into the fights.

MAIN EVENT

#4 Krwawy Lopez (18-6)  v  #2 Bowser Stormcrow (19-2)

Weston:  The main event of Heroic 143 is a welterweight showdown between two former WW Heroic champions.  4th ranked Krwawy Lopez returns to Heroic after a brief two fight stint in Immortals.  Lopez is a former champion riding a 3 fight win streak and looking to get back the glory he once had.  Lopez has looked really good as of late and I think this redebut of Lopez and 2nd run in Heroic is going to be huge, if he can come in and beat the 2nd ranked Stormcrow we may be looking at a possible title shot for him.  Stormcrow comes into this fight having lost for the first time in 8 fights when he lost the unification bout between himself and current Welterweight kingpin Jorge Junior.

Rudy:  This is going to be one hell of a fight, on one side we have Bowser Stormcrow who rose to superstardom and just suffered his first real setback.  I will be interested in seeing how he comes back from the loss.  On the other side of the cage Krwawy Lopez also a former champion, and one making his return to Heroic.  Lopez is a great all around fighter, he has a world class striking game, and is even more accurate in strikes then Stormcrow, and he has a world class ground game, Lopez averages over two takedowns per fight and lands a whopping 50% of takedowns attempts.  If he has any disadvantage its in his confidence to believe he can win and his finishing ability two things his foe doesn’t lack.  Stormcrow is one of the best strikers in the WW division not just in Heroic but in all of MMA.  Stormcrow  isn’t the most accurate striker, nor the most powerful but,  he relies on his elite striking skills, and his ability to put everything together.  Stormcrow is easily one of the most feared strikers in the division, he just manages to make everything work together and win.

Prediction:  Great fight I think Stormcrow takes a decision.

CO-MAIN EVENT

"Demolition Man" Alistair Overeem (30-10) v  #9 "Shogün" Lyoto Rua (31-9)

Weston:   The next fight is in the Super Heavyweight division, we have 9th ranked Lyoto Rua, and the former p4p greatest fighter on the planet Alistair Overeem.  This is going to be an exciting fight between two extremely talented SHW’s.  Rua has won 3 out of his last 4 fights with the only loss coming at the hands of current SHW champion, and p4p 5th best fighter in MMA, Rua’s opponent is not shy to tell the world his time as one of the great fighters is gone, I caught up with im after a training session yesterday and he said, “Look my time is over im not going to be in the top 10 or fighting for titles anytime soon, im a gatekeeper looking to get a few more fun and interesting fights before I call it a career, my goals in fighting were to be the best, I accomplished that now my new goal is to test these up and coming fighters and maybe build some future stars.”  Overeem might be right, he has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights all three coming by (T)KO, but his last fight might have been indicitation that there is still a little left in the tank…Guess we will find out.

Rudy:  No I think there is nothing left in the tank, I think he was a great fighter but is nearing the end.  It always sucks to see great fighters fall the way he has  but eventually that is what happens.  This fight means a lot though for both fighters, Rua wants to move up in the rankings and a win here against someone with the credentials such as Overeem could be a huge win on his resume.  When it comes to Striking Rua has been an accurate kicker, landing nearly 60% of his kicking attacks, but his boxing has been less successful landing  in the mid 40%’s.  What Rua does well is wear his opponents out, slow them down with leg kicks, and then shoot in for the perfectly timed takedown.  He lands 40% of his takedowns and in my opinion under uses his takedowns averaging a little over 1 per fight.  I think his strategy should be to get the fight to the ground so he can avoid the elite striking game of Overeem.   Reem has shown he is an extremely accurate boxer landing nearly 75% of head punches and 62% of his body punches.  Reem’s kicking gam has also been great landing nearly 65% of leg kicks, BUT where Reem has been the best is in the clinch, he clinches you up, tires you out, and throws bombs with his hands, elbows, and knees.

Prediction:  Rua TKO

MAIN CARD

#3 Lance Domingo (13-5) v  #2 "Bishop" Lucas Bishop (16-6)

Weston:  The last fight on the main card is a Middleweight battle between two top contenders 3rd ranked Lance Domingo, and 2nd ranked Lucas Bishop.  This is part of the small tournament put on to crown a new middleweight champion.  The winner of this fight will have an opportunity to become the champion in their next fight!  With the first participant of that fight already making his way into the title fight this fight between Bishop and Domingo will allow us to see who fights Greg Stan for the MW title.  I caught up with Lance Domingo yesterday while he was cutting weight and he told me his thoughts, “ Realistically I am an aging fighter, I have one maybe two more runs left in me so naturally im hoping to finally get over the hump and earn a title in one of the top orgs.  “Bishop” stands in my way and what a tough guy I honestly don’t expect to win this fight but im coming out balls to the wall and hoping for the best.”  Some interesting words by Domingo, and he might be right, Bishop is on a 5 fight win streak and seems to be getting better every time we see him in the cage.  Domingo has also shown some improvements recently and is on a two fight win streak.  One of these guys will have their streak continue, one will get to fight for the title, and the other will have to sit in the stands bitter as hell.

Rudy:  I see you brought your C- game today Weston.  Lets be honest guys Domingo stands very little chance in this fight right?  Anyone agree?  I know one thing Domingo better not find himself standing with Bishop or he is getting Knocked the Eff Out!  I expect Domingo to use his 57% takedown success to get this fight to the ground and look for GNP and submissions.  If he cant ge the fight to the ground I think he is in for a long night, don’t get me wrong Domingo is a very skilled striker, but Bishop is on a whole other level.  Bishop’s leg kicks are his best weapon which he lands 65% of the time, if he can come out right away and land a few kicks he may be able to take the takedowns of Domingo out of the equation and start picking him apart standing.

Prediction:  Bishop TKO late.

# 10 Zoran Miloshevich  (25-13) v #7 “The incredible Underdog” Mike Hunt          (22-16)

Weston:  The next fight on the main card is a Light-heavyweight scuffle between Serbia’s 10th ranked Zoran Miloshevich and United Kingdom’s 7th ranked Mike Hunt.  The Mike Hunt story has had its up and downs, he once nearly retired, then went on one of the most improbable runs in the history of MMA making it all the way to #18 p4p worldwide, this prompted fans to start calling him the “Ultimate Underdog, and” incredible underdog” Hunt however has once again fallen on hard times losing 3 straight and retirement staring him in the eyes once again.  Can he make another big turn around?  If Zoran Miloshevich has anything to say about it he wont do so at his expense.  Zoran has won 3 out of his last 4 fights and is once again starting to look like a title contender.

Rudy:  This will be an exciting fight like all Mike Hunt’s fights are, Its going to be a great fight because we have the super powerful striker Zoran going up against one of the best wrestlers in Heroic’s history.  Zoran has finished 72% of his wins by (T)KO.  Hunt lands 60% of his takedowns and has shown brutal GNP that has helped him earn a 60% (T)KO rate  I think the person who wins this fight is the one who keeps the fight in their world.

Prediction:  Zoran by decision

Bagful Donkeys (19-10)  v  Wade Stoker (22-14)

Rudy:  The next fight on the main card is a SHW fight between former 3 time champion Bagful Donkeys, since Donkeys’s last title reign he has went 2-5, still he is very dangerous and being a 3 time champion you know he can explode at any moment put together a string of wins and get back into title contention.  Espically when you have the kind of power that leads to you winning 90% of your fights by (T)KO.  Stoker is an extremely accurate striker that lands over 70% of his strikes in his most used weapons.  Stoker is also a powerful SHW having won 80% of his victories by TKO.  Who wins?

Prediction:  Donkeys by TKO

Luke Daigle (20-14-1) v  John England (26-14-1)

Weston:   …Luke Daigle…..John England…. Two SHW’s that know how to fight, sharing almost identical records.  , both of these fighters are trying to get their careers back on track after promising points.  England has been slipping a little lately but Daigle might be making the comeback having won 3 out of his last 4 fights.  This fight is for bragging rights, and a chance to advance their position in the SHW division.  I cant wait to see how this fight turns out between two knockout artists turns out…..i will give you a hint , someone gets KTFOed.

Prediction:  England gets another KO win and stays at a perfect 100% KO wins.
