Vegas Fight Night 2 Event Preview

Tonight kicks off VEGAS FIGHT NIGHTS 2nd event . It comes live from The Underground in Las Vegas. We have an exciting card here tonight featuring a match up for the vacant Vegas Fight Nights Welterweight Championship as well as the semi-finals of an 8 man heavyweight tournament to decide a Heavyweight Champion of Vegas Fight Nights.

Charles Clark vs Steve Lattimer
Our first match of the evening is two men making their VFN debut. First we have Charles Clark coming in with a record of 1-0. Clark will be looking to take this fight to the ground and work his ground game. His opponent Steve Lattimer is also a grappler but appears to have a weaker BJJ game so maybe he should look to control the fight in the clinch and avoid going to the ground.

John Johnson vs Majstor Zivota
Up next we have a classic “striker vs grappler” match up. John Johnson will be looking to keep this fight standing at all costs. Hopefully his manager came up with a gameplan to make this happen. Johnsons balance and takedown defense will be the defining factor of this fight. Zivota on the other hand will be trying to get this fight to the ground as fast as possible.

Satoshi Ishii vs Chralie Wolfe
Satoshi Ishii is making his MMA debut while Chralie Wolfe will be looking to get his first victory. Ishii is a purple belt in BJJ so he will most likely be looking to get this fight on the ground pretty quicky. I think it will be a difficult night for Wolfe as he appears to be a ground fighter as well.

Rick Roen vs Storman Norman
In our 4th fight of the evening we have Rick Roen, who is 1-0, going up against Storman Norman who is making his MMA debut. Roen is a kicking centered fighter who may also look to clinch up. From what we know about Norman, he appears to be a good wrestler with strong boxing but not much of a ground game.

Kimbo Slice vs Frank White
Up next we have a heavyweight match up between Kimbo Slice and Frank White. Slice should look to keep this fight standing if he wants to come away with a victory tonight. The best way for him to do this would be to be more of a counter fighter but this is not the only factor but a big part. White should be looking to counter clinch off of Slices punches and take him down from there and then work his way to a submission victory

Mike Dong vs Jake Huey
We have a rematch taking place between Dong and Huey. Their first fight was and exciting on that say Dong get an early knockdown, but Dong got careless while trying to finish Huey and was caught in an armbar. Hopefully Dong learned his lesson last time and will not follow Huey to the ground should he get a knockdown in this fight. If this fight hits the ground look for Huey to come away with a second victory or could we possibly see a rubber match ?

Bart Simpson vs Jody Kowalchuk
Our next match tonight is the first of the semifinals of the 8 man heavyweight tournament to decide the VFN Heavyweight Champion. Both men come in at 1-1 and both are coming of big wins. Simpson beat the man who gave him his first loss, gaining his first victory and advancing to the semis of the tournament. Kowalchuk beat the crap out of Aurealius Maximus before nearly ripping his arm off with a nasty Kimura. Both these men are looking to get a shot at the VFN Heavyweight Title so this should be an exciting match up

Spanish Rice vs Dominik Krajcik
This fight will determine the #1 contender for the VFN Welterweight Title. Rice’s debut lasted all of 22 seconds while Dominik went all 3 round to win a unanimous decision in his. Dominik will most likely be looking to take the fight to the clinch and land a pile of knee to the head and body. We don’t know a whole lot about Rice but we do know he has knock out power and Dominik has to be careful not to be too aggressive with his clinch attempts or he could wake up staring at the ceiling.

Don Omar vs Chris Redfield
It’s time we crown a VFN Welterweight Champion, one of these two men will walk out tonight with the belt. This is an interesting matchup, first we have Don Omar who just kicked his last opponents head off, up agaist Chris Redfield who just pounded out his opponent with gound and pound. Omar looks to be the better fighter standing so Redfield will probably be looking to take the fight to the ground at some point and dis out some punishment.

Steve Austin vs Victor Sagat
Up next we have our main event and the final match of the semifinals of the 8 man tournament to decide the VFN Heavyweight Champion. We have a bit of a lash of style tonight with Sagat being a Muay Thai fighter and Austin being more of a brawler/wrestler which should make things interesting. Austin should look to time his takedowns and work his ground and pound, but needs to be careful to mix it up a little to not end up like Sagats last opponent. Sagat have been very outspoken about his lack of respect for Austin and promises he will be the next VFN Heavyweight Champion!
