UPF 28: Vegh vs. Dee was a mixed martial arts event held by Ultimate Pit Fighting on March 30, 2013 at the Hard Knocks Casino in Hilo, Hawaii.

Official Fight Card

[Preliminary Card]

-[Middleweight bout]: Mark Matrione vs. Buddy Stevens

-[Result]: Matrione controlled the fight with his offensive wrestling and hit Stevens with everything but the kitchen sink when it came to ground n pound. In the end, the fight went to the judge's table and Matrione was the victor. Mark Matrione def. Buddy Stevens via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26)

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: David Swain vs. Dave Sarchet

-[Result]: Swain made short work of Sarchet, battering him with strikes before knocking him out cold with a right hook! David Swain def. David Sarchet via KO (Punch) at 0:19 of round 1.

-[Middleweight bout]: Josh Moore vs. Chris Remnant

-[Result]: This fight was entirely dictated by the wrestling skills of Chris Remnant. Moore got a couple of takedowns in there but it only stopped the striking assault- he was still in grave danger once the fight hit the ground. Chris Remnant def. Josh Moore via Submission (Rear Naked) at 2:55 of round 2.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Tim Jacobs vs. Demetrious Johnson Jr

-[Result]: Despite both fighters securing takedowns and battling for position on the ground, Tim Jacobs was on the right side of most of the techniques on display. He cinched more takedowns and landed ample strikes from the top position once the fit hit the ground. Tim Jacobs def. Demetrious Johnson Jr via Unanimous Decision (30-27)

[Main Card]

-[Middleweight bout]: Stefan Pruvhe vs. Jeremy Kroft

-[Result]: Despite success early in the wrestling department, Pruvhe quickly found himself on the wrong end of some punishing strikes compliments of Jeremy Kroft. After getting dropped and cut, Pruvhe ate a head kick from hell that knocked him out cold. Jeremy Kroft def. Stefan Pruvhe via KO (Head Kick) at 4:24 of round 1.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Darrius Styles vs. Joesph Ely

-[Result]: They say styles make fights. Well, I totally plan to abuse that quote in an obnoxious way to state that Styles had no effect on this fight. Joseph Ely controlled this fight from the get-go, driving Styles to the cage wall before dragging him down into his guard. After a bit of non-action, Ely rocked Styles with punches before finishing him with a head kick for the win. Joseph Ely def. Darrius Styles via KO (Head Kick) at 2:12 of round 1.

-[Welterweight bout]: Maxim Markov vs. Martin Caradagian

-[Result]: In the quickest finish of the card, Markov snagged a takedown and finished Caradagian in an immediate Kimura submission. Maxim Markov def. Martin Caradagian via Submission (Kimura) at 0:18 of round 1.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Sheng Jen Kuo vs. Chris Harrington

-[Result]: Jen Kuo continues to impress; he took Harrington down immediately and caught him in an arm triangle submission. Excellent work. Sheng Jen Kuo def. Chris Harrington via Submission (Arm Triangle) at 1:19 of round 1.

[Co-Main Event]

-[Heavyweight bout]: Rickson Gracie vs. Ichabod Crane

-[Result]: Straight punches, hooks, and combinations – Crane landed virtually every strike he attempted in this one-sided affair. Ichabod Crane def. Rickson Gracie via KO (Punches) at 1:15 of round 1.

[Main Event]

-[Heavyweight bout]: Arnold Vegh vs. Roz Dee

-[Result]: While the standing portion of this affair seemed pretty evenly matched, the ground game of Arnold Vegh was vastly superior to that of Roz Dee. Vegh landed with strike after strike from the top position with only the referee stand-ups rescuing Roz Dee. Arnold Vegh def. Roz Dee via Split Decision (29-28, 27-30, 30-28)

Be sure to tune in next time for UPF 29!
