Due to the incredible demand on our offices, we have given an unknown author* the opportunity to help promote this event. To do this, he will be writing a background summary for the event to help build excitement and get the ball rolling. He is an actor that has been in everything from movies to documentaries; commercials to self-help tapes.

Background

“Hi I'm Troy McClure! You may remember me from such martial arts instructional tapes as “How to Win Every Fight Ever” and “Just sweep the leg, stupid!”. I was hired here today to give you a preview of the upcoming mixed martial arts event hosted by UPF. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about mixed martial arts so I'm going to tell you this: if you don't buy tickets to this show you will make Jesus cry.”

*We use the term “author” loosely here.

Official Fight Card

-[Heavyweight bout]: Helge Fossmo(c) vs. Sub Zero

-[Preview]: On to the big boys now. Our heavyweight champion, Helge Fossmo, is a finisher. He is constantly throwing punches no matter the position: boxing, dirty boxing, ground n pound; it doesn't matter where the fight goes. He certainly prefers to be raining down blows from the top position however. Against a guy like Sub Zero that is an absolute certainty. Sub Zero's name is almost ironic considering he has zero sub wins to his credit. He is the typical striker style fighter; a boxer with a strong grappling base to defend himself against dominant wrestlers. This is another fight where dictating the position is of absolute importance.

-[Middleweight bout]: Tony Brown(c) vs. Scott Banks

-[Preview]: Middleweight champion Tony Brown has been around forever. He is currently riding an eight fight winning streak with seven of those wins coming via submission. He has never been knocked out in his professional career. When asked about his upcoming opponent, he had this to say: “He can knock me out, if I can't wrestle him to the ground.” This is a valid assessment as his opponent, Scott Banks, is a pure boxing style striker. Scott Banks is a very experienced striker that always delivers an exciting fight. Whoever can dictate the position and pace of this fight will certainly walk out with the gold.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Hugo Llorente(c) vs. Willie Leaks

-[Preview]: Light-heavyweight champion Hugo Llorente is still very green with only three professional fights under his belt. His striking is his forte which makes him a very popular fighter with the fans. Hugo has proclaimed that he will win this fight via head kick knockout which would be a first in his short career. Willie Leaks is a submission fighter to the core. His goal for this fight will have to be to get Hugo to the ground and keep him there until he can find a submission opening. This fight should really test our young champion.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Feodor King vs. James Ortiz Jr

-[Preview]: Heavyweight submission fighter Feodor King puts it on the line in his scrap with James Ortiz Jr. James Ortiz is not to be overlooked- he is a very well rounded fighter with the threat of submissions as well.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: David Maher vs. Sailo Damtea

-[Preview]: In a very interesting bout, two submission specialists will meet as David Maher takes on Sailo Damtea. Neither fighter is especially adept at wrestling so while David Maher would have a tremendous edge with his boxing, the odds of Sailo letting him utilize it are slim to none.

-[Welterweight bout]: Casey Jones vs. Glin Burman

-[Preview]: In another battle to reclaim lost glory, Casey Jones takes on Glin Burman. Both fighters are on disappointing losing skids and both need a win desperately.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Tony Goldman vs. Mike Messner

-[Preview]: Promotional newcomer Mike Messner joins UPF with a lot of hype under his name. He has competed four times on the regional circuit and has only lost one time during that tenure. He is a fighter that loves to stand and brawl and is also comfortable in the clinch. Tony Goldman has built his name competing in UPF. In his most recent outing, he lost in a very entertaining fight against the division champion, Hype Williams.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Test Ninja vs. Jill Lauren

-[Preview]: Two newcomers make their UPF debut here. Jill Lauren is highly ranked outside of UPF but will have a lot of work to do to prove that it is legitimate. Test Ninja is a very skilled grappler and Jill Lauren is very well rounded. Who can come out on top?

-[Bantamweight bout]: Victor Stevens vs. Choel Six

-[Preview]: This is a battle of two strikers looking to make a splash in the UPF bantamweight division. Choel Six is fresh off a failed bid at the title and Victor Stevens is a newcomer to the division.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Mully Lombard vs. Kendrick Stagliano

-[Preview]: Two fighters on the downside of their respective careers collide in this action packed first match of the night. Mully Lombard spent the bulk of his fighting career in Supremacy MMA. Can he make a fresh start against Kendrick Stagliano?
