HMMA 52

Hello everyone its “Sunshine” Weston Markson along with Rudy “The Box” Knife and were going to lay HMMA 52 out for all of you.   Saturday the 5th of January HMMA has its first card of the year, and its going to be sweeeet!  The card is full of great fights and exciting matchups that are destined to be potential end of the year awards.

Rudy:  HMMA 52 is going to be a great card, HoFer French Toast is fighting and his fights are always filled with great action, also word has it the winner of the lightweight fight between Tyson and Pitbull will be the next fighter to get a crack at John Saunders the three weight class champion.  We also have another Hall of Fame fighter Carlton Robinson on the card this is going to be huge!

MAIN EVENT

Fedor "Sambist" Alexandrov (15-3) v  French Toast (14-2)

Weston:  This matchup at heavyweight but is between the #1 contender in the LHW division Fedor Alexandrov and the heavyweight champion and Hall of Fame fighter French Toast.  One day while brainstorming what to do next Wilson had an epiphany why not put two guys that employ his favorite tactics better then anyone else?  So it happened, the two best GNP fighters in all of HMMA.  Two guys at the top of their divisions, two guys who are beloved and adored by the fans, two guys who are so alike  in what could be for Wilson at least the fight of the year.

Rudy:  This is going to be a really fun fight the winner getting bragging rights for themselves and their division.  Fedor and Toast are both known for vicious fight ending GNP and the ability to lock on a submission if the situation fits, between the two 26 of their wins have come by finishing their victim.  An interesting note is that Fedor has never won by decision but has lost by decision 3 times, and toast has never lost by decision but has won 3 decisions, could this mean if the fighter goes into the later rounds that Toast will have an advantage?

Prediction:  Wilson will shit himself.

CO-MAIN Event

Smith Hammer (11-5) v  Billy "Danzinie" Danze (12-3)

Weston:  The CO-MAIN event of HMMA 52 is another fight in the heavyweight division between two awesome GNP fighters! Maybe the event title should have been HMMA heavyweight GNP grand prix.  This fight is also a rematch for a chance to make a huge step forward in the division.  Last we saw Danze he was giving the champion French Toast all he could handle losing a decision to the champion.   Letting the title slip out of his hands could only have motivated him to get back into contention and earn another shot down the road.  Smith Hammer is 2 and 1 in HMMA with the only lost coming against Danze.  Hammer has shown he has what it takes to take the step forward and one day contend for the title.

Rudy:  This is going to be a great fight,  Danze will no doubt look to get the fight to the ground and finish him with GNP.  Hammer will also want this fight on the ground but Hammer usually tends to use his GNP to set up submissions.  One of these guys take a step forward amongst the elite of the division who is it going to be?

Prediction:  Hammer gets his revenge.

MAIN CARD

"mr decision" Mike Tyson  v  Roy "The Wardog" Pitbull (16-5)

Weston:  In what is being billed as a potential #1 contenders bout Mike Tyson and Roy Pitbull have earned an opportunity at an opportunity to face the three weight class champion John Saunders.  Last November Mike Tyson bursts onto the scene and in what some considered an upset defeated the former champion and HoF fighter Carlton Robinson.  After that win he took on Naru Jarkko the man who has giving the Lightweight champion the toughest challenge yet Tyson came out of that fight victorious and so many thought if Jarkko came closer then anyone to beating the undefeated monster then how would Tyson fare against the champion we may get to find out but then again Pitbull may be the next in line if he is able to pull out a win over Tyson.  Roy Pitbull is making his HMMA debut on Saturday but he is no stranger to big fights, Pitbull a former champion himself comes into HMMA with a lot of hype behind him and the masses wondering how he will fit in the stacked lightweight division.

Rudy:  This fight is a win lose situation.  If you win you get a huge opportunity to face the champion and hold the HMMA lightweight title…..but if you win you have to face the undefeated destroyer Saunders its going to be the toughest fight you have had.  I think I would go out there fall to the ground on the first punch and act hurt, however I doubt these two warriors are as big as a panzy as I am, this fight is going to be a long drag em out fun battle for the fans who love to see long brawls.  Both of these guys are well rounded but Roy Pitbull is more comfortable on the ground and may choose to take the fight there.   Tyson will no doubt look to stand and trade with Roy and see who has the better standup and chin.  I expect neither to back down, so who wins?

Prediction:  Tyson has been on a role in HMMA so ill take him by decision.

"Jules" Julian Casablancas (12-2) v  John Conteh (7-1)

Weston:  The next fight is a light-heavyweight fight that I think im most looking forward to out of all the fights on the card.  This fight is between two highly successful young fighters looking to make a huge impact in the division and earn a title shot.  Both of these guys are in the mix and a win will make a statement and show they could be the next in line.  Conteh started his career 6-0 and was looking like a future champion in the making, then in his seventh fight he lost a close and hard fought battle with a true veteran of the sport, that didn’t deter Conteh because in his next fight he came out and was back to business as usual when he picked up the KO victory and reestablished himself as a contender.  Casablancas also started his career with six wins before losing his first fight,  and in a similar fashion after the loss his next fight got him back on track, now an budding star Casablancas looks to show the world he is the heap of the division.  I think one day both of these fighters will wear a championship and we may not be that far away.

Rudy:  This is a high stakes fight between two contenders in a possible title eliminator fight.  I like both of these fighters and their styles.  Everyone knows as a former Muy Thai champion that I love to see to great strikers go out and throw down in the middle of the cage.  That’s exactly what we have all come to expect from both of these guys and Saturday I believe that is what we will get.  Don’t expect this fight to go to decision both of these men are finishers 15 of their 19 fights between the two of them have been won by (t)KO, and only three of their wins between the two fighters have been left in the hands of the judges.

Prediction:  Casablancas by late TKO

Gun Slinga (9-5) v  Pekka “Venom” Topohanta (32-13-1)

Weston:  This heavyweight fight is between two recent and exciting additions to the heavyweight division.  Pekka is making his second HMMA appearance after KO loss in his first fight with perennial contender Dick Niaz.  His second fight is against newcomer Gun Slinga whose most recent fight was also a KO loss, both of these men have what it takes to make it in the heavyweight division but only one will be able to take that step forward now.

Rudy:  One thing I love about this fight is the potential for a highlight reel knockout,  Pekka Topohanta has 29 (t)KO’s yes you heard that right 29!  This devastating power leaves him in every fight even if things are not going well for him all he needs is one punch to turn the tables.  Gun Slinga is also a KO artist with 8 of his 9 wins being by way of knockout.   He also has the ability to end the fight with just one shot and that makes this an exciting fight.  One thing to notice Is Pekka  has a huge experience advantage with 46 fights to his record this could become a factor.

Prediction:  I think the first person to connect clean sends the other one to the hospital

Joe Davis (20-11-1) v  Carlton Robinson (21-8-1)

Weston:   YES! One of my favorite fighters the Hall of Famer Carlton Robinson against Joe Davis, Davis makes his second appearance after defeating the very tough veteran Tarmo Suulas, but its no easy draw as he gets the former lightweight champion, and HoF fighter Carlton Robinson who is back on the winning trail after dropping two straight one of those being the title loss.  In Robinson’s last fight he was able to connect late with strikes to end what had been an impressive streak of wins by Jack Machin.  With that win he reestablished himself as a contender in the division.  Something Davis is hoping to do  with a win over Robinson, he could do just that.

Rudy: …..28………

Weston:   uhhh what rudy?

Rudy:  28…..thats the number of (t)KO’s between these two.   28.  Impressive I think we know both guys will be gunning for the knockout one way or another.  Although both fighters are well rounded one could say Davis has the more well-rounded ground game I wouldn’t be surprised to see him try and take the fight to the ground and work some GNP.  Lets hope for number 29 as these two men come to blows inside the HMMA cage.  Who improves their position in the division?

Prediction:  Either man could beat the other based on HMMA credentials ill take Robinson by decision.

PRELIMS

Weston:  The prelims of HMMA 52 are full of spectacular fights that could be main events on most cards,  these fighters are all on the brink of big things in their division and a win could bring them into the top 10 or higher as some are already there.   The fights include a very interesting matchup between Kenji Kuraba  and former #1 contender in the LW division Naru Jarkko.  Jarkko is coming off two losses looking to get back on track and earn another shot at the man he came so close to beating John Saunders, while Kuraba makes his second appearance in HMMA after winning a razor close split decision his first time out.   Also we have Lightweights Tom Stroud and Scott Lewis doing battle both men had a very successful run before having a small setback one of these two men will get back on track in what could be an interesting matchup for the lightweights upper echelon of the division.    Another prelim is former LHW number one contender Martez Cortega vs veteran fighter Dragos Ilie.  Both Cortega and Dragos have been up and down recently but if given the opportunity could find themselves near the top of the division.  The first prelim bout and show opener is what could turn out to be a award winning fight when Cain Marko takes on Samir Nasri.    Marko has been on a roll lately winning three straight and taking home KOTN honors along the way.  Nasri however will be his toughest test yet as the well rounded fighter also has KO power and a nickname to strike fear in the hearts of all “Bad Intentions”

Rudy:  Well everyone that’s all we have to say today its going to be a great card full of exciting action and meaningful bouts.  Peace!
