HMMA 47 and 48 Preview

Event Preview: HMMA 47 Matsu v Ravia
HEROIC
2012-12-15, London, Camden Conference Centre
Author:

Hello again everyone “Sunshine” Weston Markson here with resident nuisance Rudy “The Box” Knife to discuss this weekends HMMA events on Saturday and Sunday the 15th and 16th of December.  Its going to be a great weekend full of important fights to find out and further division standings, test new prospects, and see where each fighter is in comparison to their peers.

Rudy: “Sunshine” we have two events this weekend for HMMA that’s right 40 fighters will step into the cage and do battle.  HMMA 47 takes place on Saturday in the Camden Conference Center, HMMA 48 will follow the very next day in Hard Knocks.  London look out this weekend HMMA invades!

MAIN EVENTS

HMMA 47

Hatsu Matsu (12-4) v  Geralt"The White Wolf" Of Ravia (7-1)

Weston:  The Main event of this event is a huge huge fight between two guys who find themselves in the top five of the Light Heavyweight division.    This fight could go a long way in determining who is the next challenger in the LHW division.  With Fedor Alexandrov recently being announced as the number one contender one of these guys could very well be the next in line, but the road must start here with a victory.  Ravia is making his second appearance inside of HMMA after winning his first bout against a longtime standout in the division, Matsu steps inside the HMMA cage for a 4th time after going 2 and 1 in his first three fights only losing to the undefeated champion.  Will Matsu get back on the path towards the title or will Ravia make another splash in the division.

Rudy:  IM so excited for this fight, two of the best Ravia is awesome, Matsu is awesome, both of these guys are well rounded monsters lurking around looking for that next victim.   These two guys are finishers, and its quite certain one way or another one of them is going to sleep.

Prediction:  Toss up a close decision victory for Matsu

HMMA 48

"The Gracie Killer" Masahiko Kimura (5-2) v Tony Jaa (5-2)

Weston:  The main event of HMMA 48 is a fight between two of the Lightweight division most exciting prospects, Masahiko Kimura and Tony Jaa.  Kimura is one of the most exciting fighters to watch, in 7 fights he has never went to decision, not by win or lose, Sunday he hopes to keep this streak alive when he takes on Tony Jaa in his second HMMA fight.  Jaa making his third appearance after splitting wins and losses is ready to start a winning streak after coming out with his hand raised. Also an exciting young prospect who has shown really good standup skills.  Can “The Gracie Killer” take home another submission victory, or will Jaa take another step up the ladder?

Rudy:  This is going to be an exciting fight, this is a classic matchup between striker and grappler Kimura (well named) has an advantage on the ground he should try to exploit that and grab another submission, while Jaa is an outstanding striker he holds a distinct advantage there, this fight is about who implements their game plan, who can keep the other guy out of their world and force them to fight where they are not comfortable.

Prediction:  Kimura by submission late.

CO-MAIN EVENTS

HMMA 47

"The Sterilizer" Jean Pierre Babin (13-4) v  Boing “777” Sparbot (13-7-1)

Weston: Ladies and Gentlemen its time for the middleweight debut of one of the most exciting new additions the HMMA’s roster, “The Sterilizer” John Pierre Babin steps into the cage against a very dangerous Boing”777”Sparbot.  Sparbot the two time champion,  the HoF fighter and a guy who is always in contention for a shot at the title draws the task of welcoming Babin and show him what the HMMA MW division is all about.   Babin is getting thrown right into the mix here drawing such a tough opponent in his first fight, but Babin is a game fighter and a serious threat to the divisions hierarchy.  Its safe to say the winner may very well be in line for a shot at the title, for Babin it would be the start of something great he hopes, and for Sparbot it would be the continuation of his domination over this division.

Rudy:  WOW this is awesome anytime I get to see Sparbot in action is a great night, this is the legend of HMMA’s MW division and the toughest SOB around.  This fight is going to be an old fashion lets meet in the middle throw bombs and see who falls first kind of fight between two of the best strikers HMMA has to offer.  22 out of the 26 wins between these two great fighters have come by (t)KO Saturday both will hope to add one more.

Prediction:  Very close fight Ill take sparbot since he is a HoF fighter, and never losses two straight.

HMMA 48

Ship "escape" Enter (5-2) v "My Boat's" Flo Tinaway (6-5)

Weston: The CO-Main event of HMMA 48 is a fight between longtime HMMA veteran Flo Tinaway, and Ship Enter.  Enter is on a four fight win streak and his looked really good as of late, he could be on the verge of contention in the stacked welterweight division. While Tinaway looks to get what was once a very promising career back on track.

Rudy:  This fight is very interesting to me because it’s a fight between a wrestler and a BJJ fighter.  Although lately Enter has been using his wrestling to keep fights standing his best skills are still his wrestling ability.  Tinaway is a great BJJ fighter and is always dangerous on the ground in any position.  It will be interesting to see if Enter decides to go for the takedown or trys to keep the fight standing, and if Tinaway can bait him into a submission.

Prediction:  Tinaway submission.
