Styles is coming off five straight losses, including a QFC Bout where he was KO’d after 9 seconds he will be fighting to keep his contract, lavigne although the same age has much less experience with only one fight under his belt, he is unproven but a win over Styles should be a minimum to show he deserves his contract.  I’m writing this article to sketch my personal history with title fights because I took a short notice fight for a vacant title. By the time this article is published that title fight will be over and my title fight record will either have improved or I will stay winless in title fights. I’m hoping it won’t be the latter.

Let’s go back to my first title fight, my fighter Jason Boma was challenging then bantamweight champion Joko Diaz. Joko Diaz at that time was a Brazilian jiu jitsu beast while Boma was more known as a tough wrestler with some decent BJJ. In that fight Boma showed off his improved boxing but it was Joko Diaz’ grappling that gave him the unanimous decision.

 Good evening and welcome to the Liberty Dome in New York City to witness SPNY 130 where we will see the 2nd Light Heavyweight Title defence of Toby Le Rone against Haloti Gnata. The undercard is packed with interesting fights such as Light Heavyweight contender Oscar Salcedo against the aging legend Belin Billet, and Kenny Monday and Robert Van Winkle engaging in a Middleweight eliminator series. Perhaps most interesting for me is to see how former Welterweight champion handles parting company with his long term manager on the back of a 3 fight losing streak when he clashes with Ogami Itto. The Bantamweight encounter between Doherty and Troyer is going to be intriguing given that both were pound for pound legends a few years ago but are well past their best now, it could be either one of the best or one of the worst fights SPNY has ever witnessed. Don’t forget for those of you who love a punt Steel Penn NY Bookmaker has odds on all of tonight’s 10 fights.
Main Event: Light Heavyweight Title
Toby Le Rone (c) 20-5 (6-2 SPNY) vs Haloti Gnata 17-5 (14-5 SPNY)
Le Rone comes into his second title defence knowing that as a boxer and kick boxer he probably has the edge in terms of total skills against boxer Gnata. Coming off 5 straight wins and his last 3 by knockout, not only is Le Rone at peak form but he is quickly becoming one of the outright crowd favourites here at SPNY. Whilst he lacks the one punch knockout power that makes some stand up fighters so dangerous, there are few Light Heavyweights in the world who can match his work rate over 3 rounds let alone the 5 rounds of tonight’s title fight.

 Q: Dear martial arts fans, last week I had an interview with an 18 year old prospect from Holland. Tom Quin talked about competing in a tournament to crown the LFC’s 145 champion. But word got out something unexpected happened, isn’t that right Mr. Quin?
Tom: That is correct, the company changed hands. Everybody got scared, fearing for the future of not only the tournament but also their jobs.
Q: What is the status of the company now and will the tournament continue?
Tom: The tournament will continue, my first match has been scheduled. The new owner might not have a lot of experience but someone that hasn’t proven himself yet will be hungry for success, that means he is exactly like me and every fighter in the tournament so I’m sure the company is in good hands right now.

 The Global Elite Group is proud to announce the inclusion of Claymore Elite Combat to the (GEG) family.
The Claymore Elite Combat is the longest running fight organization in Helsinki. CEC 1 was held on November 28th 2009 and has been going strong ever since. Recently Claymore booked their 300th event putting them in an elite group of organizations to achieve this goal.
This expands the GEG bloc of organizations to a total of 7 of the top 15 organizations and that group includes GAMMA, TTFC, Versus, Aggressive Damage, Cage Wars, Steel Penn Hilo and the newest addition of CEC. All in all the block has almost 200 fighters ranked top 1000 p4p, giving our fighters more options than any single organization in existence.
