The bell rings for round one and we are underway!#CL2#
Thompson has closed the distance and engaged Tarasov in a clinch.
Thompson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tarasov.
Tarasov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Thompson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Tarasov has Thompson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Thompson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Korney Tarasov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thompson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Thompson tries to score a body lock takedown but Tarasov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.#TD2#
Thompson jumps into guard, dragging Tarasov to the mat.
Tarasov trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tarasov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thompson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tarasov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Thompson enables Tarasov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Thompson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Thompson is looking to stand back up but Tarasov counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Thompson. #T2#

Tarasov loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Thompson scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Tarasov land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Tarasov stands and salutes the crowd.
