HFC 1. Jiminez vs Andarys
(Preview)

hfc-1.jpg

Well, well-well I know this really did the patience of some of you lot out there, but guys don’t you worry, cause the long-awaited debut of HFC is finally upon us, as on May the 7th 2022 the stage has now been set, with 20 of the hottest young prospects in the MMA scene on action, it’s just gonna be mayhem once that cage closes, so mark up your calendars guys, cause believe me when I say this, you’d really regret missing this historic first event.
Right, so with my waffling out the way, let’s actually take a closer look at exactly why you should be getting very excited with this event, shall we?... Yes? Good.

UNDERCARD
⦁    Suutari “Rautamies” Nuorempi vs Lydell Poag
(Light-Heavyweight 205 LBS)
So starting off our undercard, we have two pretty evenly matched and relatively inexperienced Muay thai strikers , looking to get their respective HFC careers off-to rollicking starts by winning in their HFC debut. Now, these two might be very evenly matched, but a slight difference which might set them apart in their upcoming showdown could be extreme confidence in his abilities for one of the fighters, and lack there of for the other…Now I say this, cause Suutari is coming off the back of a dominating performance in his pro debut, where as Lydell has yet to make his debut, and hence Suutari might have more knowledge of his own abilities and how far can he push himself, and with being high on confidence after his 1st ever win, I  see that factor having a major impact on who eventually wins this bout, but surprises and upsets are very regular in this particular sport, so make sure to keep your eyes glued to the screen during this bout.

Prediction: Suutari Nuorempi wins via TKO (Round 2)

⦁    Olivier “Silent” Aphone vs “Dogecoin To The Moon” Shannon Hoon
(Welterweight 170 LBS)

Next up on our list is going to be what is increasingly looking like the ultimate slugfest in the welterweight division, as again, two very unknown commodities in Aphone and Hoon are set to square off in the middle off the cage, to once and for all find out who is indeed the last man standing.
Now Olivier is what people might call a boxer/wrestler, inclining more towards the boxing category, who at 24, like many others in this event, Is also kind of a late bloomer, who unfortunately got destroyed in his professional debut at the start of April. Now a loss like that might damage a lot of self confidence in any fighter, but the best in the business dig in deep when the time gets tough and get over it, so we can only wait and see which side of fence he ends up in after the cage closes to signal the start of this fight.
On the other end, Hoon is a bit of everything tbh, I mean this guy is capable of standing up and brawling as well as grappling when needs must, but at 22, even he’s not the youngest going around in the sport, so being this unknown commodity in the division, I can’t really tell you what to expect from this guy..so keep an eye out for this guy, cause he might just turn out to be the real deal.

Prediction: Shannon Hoon wins via unanimous decision (Round 3)

⦁    Gerwazy Babula vs Chris Maurelli
(Middleweight 185 LBS)

The third fight of the evening, sees two teenage Middleweight hotshots, eager to impress, battle it out for supremacy in what is sure to be a battle for the ages. So make sure that you don’t miss a beat of the action from this particular fight.
Now if we analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the two individuals involved, we see that these two are actually more similar than we think they are, I mean for example, neither of them are experienced or have even fought beforehand for that matter, they are both very clinical muay thai strikers, and are pretty horrible when it comes to their grappling abilities, so all in all, I’m expecting a very-very close contest, which could be decided by the smallest of margins on the scoreboard, or an unfortunate error by either one of the fighters.

Prediction: Chris Maurelli wins via TKO (Round 2)

⦁    Cody “The Curse” Lake vs Elvind Osterholt
(Middleweight 185 LBS)

With the end of the undercard bouts now fast approaching, next up we have a battle of contrasting styles for once, as two still pretty moderately young individuals in Cody Lake and Elvind Osterholt take centre-stage, inside the cage, for what is sure to be a very intriguing contest between two guys, who have fast become two of the most talked-about individuals in the entire Middleweight division, so as always, be sure to not miss this bout.
Now although I still see a very closely matched up fight here, the contrast in styles between these two fighters could not be further apart… I mean take Cody for example, well this guy has absolutely seen it and done it all in the amateur circuit, destroying and knocking out anyone in his path out cold, where as Elvind on the other end is a relative unknown in the amateur circuit, but is known for his exceptional ground game, as we have seen on his pro debut, where he annihilated and submitted his opponent with relative ease..so all in all, after looking at the attributes of both these fighters, I personally can’t see this fight going to the judges decision, so anyone looking for early finishes in the fights, well you’ve got your wish hopefully.

Prediction: Cody Lake wins via KO (Round 2)

⦁    Seth “The Sorcerer” Smith vs Ranko Nanusevski
(Lightweight 155 LBS)

Finally, to round off our the undercard, we have what we hope to be a very closely matched grappling clinic from two of the best submission specialists currently situated in the HFC Lightweight division.
Looking at the two fighters, there’s just barely anything that separates them, I mean they both are still pretty young (25 years), and having won their pro debuts leading upto this fight, both of them should be high on confidence too, but if we really dig deep enough, we might get to notice a slight difference in their levels of aggression during a bout, cause although both of them are master grapplers in their own right, I’d like to think Seth is a bit more aggressive than Ranko, and goes for the finishing moves more urgently and more frequently than Ranko, but all in all, I see this fight being played out very tactically from both the fighters involved and therefore if you’re looking for a quick finish, then look away now.

Prediction: Seth Smith wins via submission (Round 3)

MAIN CARD
Well, now with the undercard bouts well and truly out the way, I think it’s safe to say that it’s finally time for the big boys to take centre stage (I mean no offence to the guys who competed in the undercards , but you’re not on the main card for a reason, so deal with it lads) and show us why we paid the big bucks for this event, alongside entertaining us to no extent…so all in all, strap yourselves up nice and tight to your comfortable seats guys, cause I bet you’re set to be blown away very soon through some sheer quality of action which would unfold infront of us during this event. Right, I think I’ve rumbled on for far too long, so let’s get straight into the fights we have in store for us…

⦁    “The Object Of Delusion” Toutius Sextius vs OJ “The Juice” Simpson
(Light-Heavyweight 205 LBS)

Starting off our main card is a bout between arguably two of the most shady characters in the HFC Light-Heavyweight division as of now, cause in Sextius, we have a guy who may look like a commoner living in skingrad, but he definitely is a very arrogant guy who is apparently influenced by a paranoid schizophrenic…A lot to take already yeah? Well, don’t worry cause I got bucket loads more. Now on the other end of the spectacle tho, we have got OJ Simpson with “The Juice“, so yeah nothing more needs to be said about him I hope, so moving on…
As for the similarities and advantages/disadvantages these two might face against each other, well, although both these fighters are standup strikers, I see OJ Simpson having a healthy advantage if this fight is fought entirely while standing up, but if this fight ever goes to the ground, I can definitely see Sextius coming out on top (mad sentence I know) and winning this bout comfortably.
As for who has the upper hand going into the fight tho, only time will tell, but this one should be a cracker of a contest.

Prediction: OJ Simpson wins via TKO (Round 2)

⦁    “Crucial” Robbie Lyle vs Kristoffer Rud
(Heavyweight 265 LBS)

Well talking about the “big boys” guess what, two of the biggest in town are next in action in a bout which is sure to excite a lot of fans, cause believe me when I say this, I think we have a quick finish in our hands here.
Now after taking a closer in-depth look at these two though the very few training tapes available on them, I can straight away tell you that these guys are simply nothing alike except for their age and more importantly their experience levels, cause on one side we have Robbie lyle, a guys who is technically one of the most gifted heavyweights at HFC, and can annihilate anyone when he’s on his groove, where as on the other end we have a Kristoffer Rud, a proper grappler, who has decent capabilities of surviving a brawl…so all in all, I conclude with the fact that this fight is most likely not gonna last the distance, so do not take your eyes of this one.

Prediction: Robbie Lyle wins via TKO (Round 1)

⦁    “The Evangelist” Billy Graham vs  “The Crusader” Mertis Falandas
(Welterweight 170 LBS)

Next up, we have arguably two of the weirdest character combination who are set compete for supremacy, as in Billy Graham, we have a disciple of the lord who’s apparently joined the sport to bring people closer to the lord, whereas in Merlis Falandas we have one of the only remaining two master trainers in the spear technique, so the the conclusion I have made from the above information, is that the HFC scouts really need to stop looking for the most weird ass people on planet earth with decent fighting skills.
Moving on, if we look purely towards the skillsets possessed by these two fighters, well it turns out Billy is an out and out wrestler, who likes to be in your face at all times, trying to take you down and control the fight from there, whereas Merlis is more of a striker, who can fight you from range, and also batter you in the clinch when the going get’s tough. Now with both fighters being very young and without a previous fight under their belt, there’s very little info as to how they actually would fight, so most of all I’ve said above is a tad bit of guesswork, and hence this might turn out to be a cagey encounter, cause as the saying goes, the fear of the unknown is a fear that kills.

Prediction: Merlis Falandas wins via TKO (Round 3)

CO-MAIN EVENT

Right, so with the preliminary bouts now out the way, we’ve now finally arrived at the home stretch of this grand opening event of HFC, which means better fighters, higher quality of fighting (apparently) and last but not the least, a better spectacle for us fans to enjoy… so what are you waiting for? Join me and take a closer look at what we have in store for you in the penultimate fight of the evening…

⦁    “The Warrior” Yam GroMuzgur vs Ivor Ivanovic
(Featherweight 145 LBS)

Right, so the co-headliner for tonight’s event sees us encounter an orsimer warrior, hungry for success in Yam GroMuzgur, who’s set to go one on one against a very confident looking Ivor Ivanovic, and let’s be honest, why shouldn’t he be? I mean my guy here literally destroyed his opponent in his pro debut and I’ll not beat around the bush too much more here, cause I feel he is the real deal in the HFC Featherweight division, so all in all, this should be a very exciting encounter between two young guns, hungry for success and desperate for wins, a great combination I would say.
Now, further analyzing both their skillsets and fighting styles, I can see Yam being a more confident striker from range with overall decent grappling skills, whereas for Ivor, I see him trying to get up close and personal with his opponent at every opportunity, trying to clinch and control the fight from there, cause if he goes to the ground at any point in the fight, I can’t see him lasting for 10 seconds against anyone unfortunately…So keep your eyes on this fight, cause I’m pretty sure this is going to be a classic.

Prediction: ivor Ivanovic wins via Unanimous Decision (Round 3)

 MAIN EVENT

Right then, the wait is over guys, cause the fight that you all have been waiting for is finally upon us, live from the sold out Micro Arena in Montreal, Canadaaaaa…Iiiiiiit’s tiiiiiiiiiime!!!

⦁    “Billy The Kid” William Jiminez vs “The Master Monk” Goren Andarys
(Bantamweight 135 LBS)

Right, so the final bout of the evening, sees us encounter two very different characters yet again (what a surprise) as Mr. Jiminez here comes to us leaving behind a very rough past, and having been from a family of cowboys, he has always preferred achieving things the hard way, and since there isn’t really a harder way to earn your living than fighting in MMA, this was obviously the path that he chose as his future. On the other end of the scale tho, Mr. Andarys comes from the family of Dark Elf Monks, who are apparently responsible for issuing payments for executions. Now he is a fully trained acrobat and specializes in hand-to-hand combat which might come in handy during his MMA career, so all in all, if he actually realizes his potential, then he’ll definitely be on to look out for and fear in the entire HFC bantamweight division.
 biilly.png
Now taking a closer look at their skillsets and potential fighting styles, Mr. Jiminez seems like a muay thai specialist, who would love to get in your face, tie you up in a clinch, and then beat the shit of you, so if I’m Mr. Andarys then I’d stay as far away from him if possible and try to get him to the ground.

monk.png

On the other end, Mr Andarys looks like a half decent complete fighter, if that makes any sense at all (which it doesn’t), and I say that cause he can do a bit of everything tbh, I mean he is good at range fighting alongside being decent in a clinch too, but unlike his opponent, he is not woeful in the ground either, and for me the third bit will make the difference in this fight, cause if by some way or the other Andarys manages to get the fight to the ground, it’s gonna be one way traffic from there onwards…so all in all, this fight has got the making of an easy fight of the night, and an all time classic.

Prediction: Goren Andarys wins via Unanimous decision (Round 3)

So with that we’ve finally come to the end of this historic first event in HFC, Big shoutout to our Merch partner Fantasy Threads for being there with us in every step of our journey so far, and last but not the least, huge shoutout to you fans,  I hope you all enjoyed this preview so until next time, Peace!

Sanka Coffee: Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up it's MMA time! Ladies and gentlemen I have here with me today Kaimana Makani.

Kaimana Makani: Hey Sanka brudda man. Nui koʻu aloha iā ʻoe e kuʻu kaikunāne

Sanka Coffee: And just what does that mean?

Kaimana Makani: It means I have much love for you my brother.

Sanka Coffee: Speaking of meaning your name is Hawaiian as well. What does it mean?

Kaimana Makani: My family name Makani means wind and Kaimana means the power of the ocean. So my name means the power of the ocean wind which is pretty fitting as the wind controls the waves brudda.

Sanka Coffee: Nice nice. So you have a fight scheduled for June 11th. Isn't that correct? It's against Roger Riddick right? What do you know about him?

Kaimana Makani: Well that is correct and he is a fellow 18 year old fighter who has a lot of skill Muay Thai but I would strongly urge him to get into another gym. That gym doesn't have very good coaches and most of the equipment is broken. Might be a bit pricey for him but I would recommend him joining like Rabid Dog.

Sanka Coffee: So how do you see your fight going?

Kaimana Makani: Well I'm a smart fighter and I'm going to take a fight where I think I have the best chance and he has no wrestling and no bjj so I'll probably take the fight to the ground. Then I'll either look to punish him or submit him from there.

Sanka Coffee: What are your plans for after the fight?

Kaimana Makani: I will be looking to train. If I am offered a fight I'll take it depending on how far out it is.

Sanka Coffee: Well that appears to be all the time we have for today.

Slo Moegan: Ladies and gentlemen give it up for your winner by unanimous decision William Jiminez!

William Jiminez: Hey Slo glad to get a chance to be talking to you man.

Slo Moegan: Man that pace of your's was absolutely crazy. I know the lighter weights can go but wow. You threw 174 strikes. That has to be a record in not only your division but the organization in general. Walk us through a bit of the fight.

William Jiminez: I knew he was going to be tough and the fight wasn't going to be easy. I was just hoping that I could keep this fight standing with his advantage on the ground. I kept moving forward and he is a much taller and lankier fighter so figured I'd have the power advantage on the inside. So I kept moving around and working inside the range. I kept landing the better shots and ended up wobbling him early in the third. He started pushing back once I hurt him and was able to recover. Just was a good fight.

Slo Moegan: So what do you have planned next?

William Jiminez: Well as you know I'm really a young guy. I'm still a kid at 16. And I chose this because I'm from a family of real deal cowboys and we don't take the easy road at anything. But being so young my plan is to train. I'm honored to be on the first ever card and I'll definitely be getting in the cage again just don't expect it to be soon.

Slo Moegan: Well when you do get back inside the cage it will be a honor to be calling another one of your fights. Again everybody give it up for William Jiminez!

HFC 2 Ramsay vs Keown PREVIEW!

16500487792%20poster.png

On the 14th of May, Heartless Fighting Championship returns to Montreal for their second event, HFC 2. There are ten fights in total taking place inside Paddy O’Malley’s Bar which expect to be packed to the rafters. The action kicks off at 14:00 GMT with five undercard fights. However, we will be focusing on the Main Card.

37w21.jpgNimjal “Cyborg” Configuracion vs. “Slapdown” Will Smith42w27.jpg

(Bantamweight 135 LBS)

Our opening fight of the main card is the classic boxer vs. Muay Thai specialist. Configuracion, the Muay Thai specialist, is making his debut against a fighter 42cm taller than him. His reach disadvantage alone means that he will need to find a way to get inside the jab and let his feet go, or try to get a double collar tie and do some serious damage. Will Smith lost his debut fight against Cory Ashby and demonstrated an appalling lack of fight IQ as he completely failed to utilise his boxing. This is a fight that Smith will win or lose on his jab, as physically he should have more than enough for his opponent, as long as he doesn’t melt under the pressure once again.

Prediction: Will Smith wins by decision

37b1.jpgMarc Tong Panong vs. Gregorio Smitzenhausen37w45.jpg

(Middleweight 185 LBS)

Marc Tong Panong comes into this fight holding a record of 2-0-0. A wrestler by nature, Panong does his best work in the clinch, as shown in his debut against Carson Arthur. He faced slightly more obstacles in his second fight against the somewhat more durable Jack Messervey, where despite having a significant height advantage, he couldn’t make use of it. The interest in this fight comes in the form of the skill set of debuting Gregorio Smitzenhausen and his Muay Thai skills. Suddenly the clinch may well contain considerably more risk as it is not only the threat of the Thai Plum but also the swinging limbs of a man who stands 15cm taller. It is a tricky fight to call, however, the one thing MMA has taught us, is that he who has the better wrestling, so often controls where the fight takes place.

Prediction: Marc Tong Panong wins by decision

15w19.jpgJason “Slugger” Johnson vs. Jeff “Beach Bum” Spicoli30w24.jpg

(Welterweight 170 LBS)

These two fighters will enter the cage with completely opposite skillsets and mirror image records, neither having tasted victory in their short careers so far. Jason Johnson has the better Muay Thai and wrestling, and will likely look to dictate where the fight takes place. He will likely want to get the fight into the clinch and tee off in a manner which dictates his nickname “Slugger”. Spicoli is a different kettle of fish. The “Beach Bum” is the better boxer and has the more dangerous BJJ, and has to try and set traps for Johnson. It could well be a chess match that is settled by who makes the first mistake.

Prediction: Jeff Spicoli wins by submission (Round 2)

CO-MAIN EVENT

21b4.jpgAace “Lucky Rabbit” Zajac vs. Anton “Atomic Hammer” Ilmarinen31w2.jpg

(Middleweight 185 LBS)

On paper this looks to be an incredibly close contest between two wonderful wrestlers. Zajac won his one previous fight by a comfortable decision where he relied more on his striking to carry him through. A ground and pound merchant, he actually landed 94% of his ground and pound strikes in his debut. The “Atomic Hammer” is making his debut here and would be wise to do his upmost to keep this fight standing. There is a glimmer of hope for Ilmarinen. He has a slight advantage in terms of his Muay Thai technique and could look to utilise leg kicks to define the distance and make Zajac think twice about closing in on him. Ilmarinen has a significant reach advantage, and if he fights clever his wrestling may be enough to nullify the “Lucky Rabbit” and if he works behind his jab and keeps Zajac at a distance he may well be the one with his hand raised at the end of the night.

Prediction: Anton Ilmarinen to win by TKO (Round 2)

MAIN EVENT
hfc2tale-2.jpg

Gordon “The Donkey” Ramsey vs. Martin “People Die” Keown

(Welterweight 170 LBS)

The Main Event of the evening brings together two of the oddest nicknames in MMA. Gordon Ramsey, or “The Donkey” as he is known to his family is a 1-0-0 fighter out of the United Kingdom. A solid Muay Thai/Wrestler who beat Jeff Spicoli on his debut predominately likes to stand and bang, and one thing that really stood out in his first outing was the venom in his leg kicks. He landed 20 against Spicoli and actually dropped him to the floor with an atomic chopper in the third round. Martin Keown, or “People Die” to his Mum, is a London born boxer and BJJ blue belt who is making his debut. Keown faces an uphill battle as his blue belt may be utterly worthless, as Ramsey managed to stuff 51 takedowns on his debut. The truth is that is likely to come down to a striking battle. Not only that, leg kicks tend to be an achilles heel of so many boxers. It is likely to be a particularly short nights work of both these men.

Prediction: Gordon Ramsey to win by TKO (Round 1)

TALE OF THE TAPE for the main event of Heartless Special 1: Frankie Griggs vs Alex Pereira

hfc-special.jpg

This event was really made up by both of them, they started beefing on Buzz about wins, record and how they will do against each other, well...We reached out to the owner of the organization of Ambush Kickboxing Federation, we have made an agreement for this fight and they allowed Frankie to fight under our contract for only one fight! Huge shout out to James!

Well, this one is a special fight, it's a main event with a 5 rounds and 5 minutes each round, first main event made like that, the plan of doing 5x5 was in July but this one has to be like that, hope both of these man will end their beef in that cage and there will be respect!

There was nothing planned anymore for this month but we decided to make this happening as soon as possible for them, we don't know if we will be able to fill up the card that was made overnight for this fight, Heartless Special 1 may be filled, may not, we will see how the HFC 2 will do tonight, if people from that card wants to fight and they are able and cleared medical, we hope to get more fights under our special card!

Frankie got all of his wins via (T)KOs, he's a dangerous man if he stands up, but his purple belt will make him dangerous on the ground too, Alex Pereira is a Muay Thai fighter with a purple belt, he got his first win with a TKO throwing kicks and punches at his opponent after he cut and dominated the whole round one. But there's a lot of experience gained in fights that Frankie fought since he started his career, he has also tried boxing but that didn't go well, Frankie had 30 fights, he was able to get 15 wins in MMA, but sadly he has lost 14 fights in MMA, he has won FOTN 3 times and KO of the night 3 times, don't doubt him because of his record, iron shapes iron in the end! Alex fought only one time, hope the public won't get to him and put pressure on him, he can throw hands, kicks and fight in the clinch, he has the ability to get up from the ground too, this fight is balanced but the experience will be the factor here!

This fight will be interesting, tune in for it!

Good luck to both of them for backing up their words!

HFC 2 - Ramsay vs. Keown Review
16500487792%20poster.png
Main Card

37w21.jpgNimjal Configuracion 0-0-0 vs. Will Smith 0-1-042w27.jpg

The bell went for round one, and Smith immediately clinched up and trapped Configuracion against the cage.  The strategy immediately backfired when one of Configuracion’s elbows landed, cutting Smith within the first minute.  With elbows raining down Smith tried for the takedown without success.  They remained glued to the cage, Configuracion flailing with his elbows, Smith trying to get the fight to the ground, and neither fighter able to construct an advantage.  Configuracion caught Smith with a heavy elbow, rocking him down to his feet but Smith somehow survived.  His wobbly legs settled .  Finally Smith managed to get Nimjal Configuracion onto the mat by pulling guard only for his opponent to stand straight back up.  No matter what Smith tried, his opponent had an answer.  Configuracion now had the momentum and took his opportunity to clinch Smith against the cage.  Once again he rained elbows down on his foe , whilst Smith kept working for takedowns that just were not there.  Four minutes in, with Smith trapped against the cage, Configuracion let fly with his elbows, this time catching Smith, and then he let his hands go, causing the referee to call a stop to the fight after 4:37.

Result:  Nimjal Configuracion wins by TKO(Strikes) after 4:37 of Round One.

37b1.jpgMarc Tong Pahong 2-0-0 vs. Gregorio Smitzenhausen 0-0-037w45.jpg

The opening stanza began with the two fighters feeling themselves out, with Smitzenhausen landing a couple of kicks.  Tong Pahong quickly decided that he didn’t fancy that much and clinched at the first opportunity.  The fighters exchanged shots before Tong Pahong grabbed a Thai Plum and started using his knees to good effect.  Marc Tong Pahong controlled the fight against the cage.  Worryingly with little over a minute, Smitzenhausen looked winded.  Tong Pahong’s dirty boxing was clearly having an effect.  Smitzenhausen hit the deck, but it looked to be a slip.  When he rose to his feet Tong Pahong was on him like Donkey Kong and quickly trapped his opponent up against the cage and it remained that way for the rest of the round, with Pahong dominating with his superior Muay Thai technique.

The second round began the way the first ended.  Tong Pahong quickly forced Smitzenhausen back against the cage and immediately began peppering Smitzenhausen with strikes.  After a minute Tong Pahong began to land some cleaner shots, but still seemed to be sitting on them somewhat.  After snapping Smitzenhausen’s head back, Pahong rocked his opponent with a nice hook, landing shots, but none of them particularly powerful.  After three minutes Smitzenhausen managed to find some space and break the clinch, only for Tong Pahong to continuously force him back against the cage.

When the final round began it very much looked as if Gregorio Smitzenhausen needed a finish.  Once again Tong Pahong forced his opponent backwards and would not let go.  With his gas tank on empty Smitzenhausen looked devoid of any answers.  Pahong kept finding his way into the Thai clinch, dropping knees and elbows, working by volume rather than power.  With twenty-seconds remaining Tong Pahong once again found is Thai Plum and let fly with a barrage of knees upstairs, and Smitzenhausen had nothing left.

Result: Marc Tong Pahong wins by TKO(Knees) after 4:50 of Round Three.

Marc Tong Pahong landed 40 of 43 head shots in the clinch.

15w19.jpgJason Johnson 0-1-0 vs. Jeff Spicoli 0-1-030w24.jpg

The action opened with Johnson swatting at flies whilst Spicoli launched half-hearted takedown attempts.  It was slow going around a failed takedown attempt by Spicoli gave Jason Johnson the opportunity to push his opponent up against the cage.  They broke away from each other before Johnson landed a slapping head kick.  Spicoli’s takedowns got him nowhere and Johnson seemed to be content to move in and out of the clinch, using his largely ineffective striking.

Round two began in much the same fashion until Spicoli finally landed his jab flush on his opponent’s jaw.  It was quickly evident that Jason Johnson was running out of steam as he began use the clinch as a means to rest.  He begun to counter Spicoli’s takedown attempts with counter leg kicks to try and generate space.  Towards the end of the round Spicoli began to run out of gas as the constant clinching and wrestling was beginning to take its toll.

With Spicoli in need of a finish, round three saw the two exhausted fighters try to solve each others puzzle.  Neither fighter diverted from their tactics, allowing Johnson to control the action.  Jason Johnson began landed more shots, leading to an uppercut that got Spicoli’s attention.  His use of the clinch was allowing him free shots every time he broke away.  With Johnson beginning to land more freely, Spicoli, as exhausted as he was began stepping up the pace to no avail

Result:  Jason Johnson wins by unanimous decision.

Jason Johnson clinched 28 times.
Jeff Spicoli was successful with 0% of his takedowns.

Co-Main Event

21b4.jpgAace Zajac 1-0-0 vs. Anton Ilmarinen 0-0-031w2.jpg

The fighters started out cautiously circling one another, feeling each other out whilst launching tentative shots.  As soon as the opportunity presented itself Ilmarinen cut the distance and clinched Zajac up against the cage.  Ilmarinen managed to free one of Zajac’s legs and uses a trip for the takedown.  Both fighters were pacing themselves, with neither fighter able to find clean shots.  The round came alive again when Zajac, in a butterfly guard, used a scissor sweep to get to top position.  Unfortunately he wasn’t able to take advantage of his position as his ground and pound lacked any kind of accuracy.

The second round started in hilarious fashion when Ilmarinen landed an open handed slap that woke the audience up.  Ilmarinen used his size advantage to get another trip takedown and immediately landed a bone thudding hook.  This time he let himself go, peppering the squirming Zajac with hammerfists and elbows.  With Zajac having nowhere to go, Ilmarinen began loading up on big shots forcing the referee to call a halt to proceedings.

Result:  Anto Ilmarinen wins by TKO after 2:58 of Round Two.

Anto Ilmarinen landed 78% of his ground and pound strikes.

Main Event

6w22.jpgGordon Ramsey 1-0-0 vs. Martin Keown 0-0-028w9.jpg

Gordon Ramsey was fast out of the traps putting his chopping leg kicks to good use.  Keown was desperate to get the fight to the ground and threw himself at takedown after takedown to no effect.   It was as if Gordon Ramsey was swatting at mosquitoes and Martin Keown was quite desperate for a cuddle and a lay down.  Ramsey used his kickboxing to good effect and attacked Keown’s stationary front leg.  Ramsey focusing on the body easily had the best of what was a very tame round.

Round Two was much of the same, as every time Keown moved forwards to attempt the takedown, he was met by a Ramsey leg kick.  Keown tried to do himself a favour and clinch but couldn’t hold his opponent against the fence.  Ramsey began to land more frequently, working the body well before connected with a hard straight right hand.  Keown’s zombie strategy began to cause him problems in the middle of the round as the low kicks kept raining down, and Ramsey hit him with a stinging liver shot.  With time running out Keown managed to grab hold of Ramsey only for his corner to tell him to break the clinch.

The final round was all set, with Gordon Ramsey clearly up two rounds, and never having looked threatened.  After yet another failed takedown, Keown clinched with Ramsey against the cage, and found himself eating some knee.  With Keown bleeding, Ramsey broke the clinch, leaving an exhausted Keown visibly frustrated.  Ramsey, his confidence growing, began to let his fists go, landing with a beautiful overhand right, and a mocking open-hand swat.  Keown, as is his way, just kept walking forwards.  The round played out with Ramsey landing a head kick and controlling the remainder.

Result:  Gordon Ramsey wins by Unanimous Decision.

Gordon Ramsey landed 14 from 15 leg kicks.
Martin Keown landed 0% of his takedowns.
