I have a 135lb fighter looking for a test fight if anyone else is looking too.

You still have my other guy signed for another fight. If no one steps up needing a test set it up with my fighter 4 and I will help out. I am cutting him anyway. Just waiting till the time is up. Lost to many VIP days lately!

The majority of the fighters have now been signed up and we're just waiting for a few stragglers.

The first event is now TWO WEEKS AWAY and I will be doing the group draw and fight schedule tomorrow at around 11pm (GMT) on the Alliance World Championship discord channel I have created.

I will then post it on here and start to send the fight offers out.

Alright everybody, we are getting close! Almost one week to go until the opening round of the group phase.

All but a couple of fighters have been signed but there is no worry as they are from trusted managers and I am hoping I will have them by the end of the day.

The fight schedule and groups were drawn last weekend and everybody can see who they will be fighting and when.

Most of the opening round fights have now been sent out aside from a few and as I mentioned, I hope to have those offered by the end of the day.

ALLIANCE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021

Alliance Preliminary Rankings

(as of January 20th 2021)

(#1)

YABAI

(Combined Best #25, Combined Current #155)

Carlos Castenada (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 28)
Esiah Xavier (Best Rank 8, Current Rank 16)
Bwang Jong Sr (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 11)
Jack King (Best Rank 15, Current Rank 100)

Last seasons champions YABAI are back and though initially looking to field a less experienced team, some last minute changes mean that YABAI will once again be at full strength. Led by two former #1 managers Carlos Castenada and Bwang Jong Sr, both of whom are always good for earning some serious points. They are rounded out by top 15 manager Jack King who was an integral part of last years team as well as newcomer Esiah Xavier will be making his AWC debut after a breakout year in the game that saw him climb into the rankings top ten.

Drawn in Group A, YABAI will no doubt be pleased to have avoided some of the tougher looking teams that could have been matched with them and instead will likely find their toughest encounters against the likes of Keyboard Warriors and The Guardians. We fully expect to see YABAI moving into the final eight championship phase and most likely topping their group along the way.

(#2)

The Stepdads

(Combined Best #103. Combined Current #237)

Billy Arseworth (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 3)
Alex K (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 42)
Step Daddy Squiiid (Best Rank 15, Current Rank 85)
Aydan The Wandering Spirit (Best Rank 86, Current Rank 107)

Last years runners up The Stepdads return with an almost unchanged line up meaning they are once again going to be a force to be reckoned with. Their top manager will no doubt be Billy Arseworth who is usually to be found close to his best rank of #1 as well as team captain and former #1 Alex K. Both put on excellent performances last year but you have to wonder how motivated K is these days? Step Daddy Squiid is back and The Stepdads will be hoping for a repeat performance from him following his undefeated run at heavyweight and they are rounded out by Ayden The Wandering Spirit who is still currently competing at around the #86 mark.

The Stepdads have been drawn into a very tough group in Group B with no real weak teams among them to speak off. Still, it would be foolish to believe that The Stepdads will not be moving on into the champions phase after the group stage is done and it would be very likely that they do it in style. Last year they coasted all the way to the finals and were looking to be a pretty safe bet to take the gold until the very last match up. A run like that only to end up in second place has to be a real kick in the balls. Can The Stepdads go one better this time around? We will know very soon.

(#3)

Convicted Inc

(Combined Best #22, Combined Current #382)

Chris Meat (Best Rank 13, Current Rank 138
Freako Wimp (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 36)
Jason Smith (Best Rank 3, Current Rank 175)
Marcus Crassus (Best Rank 5, Current Rank 33)

Convicted INC were noticeably absent from last years tournament as none of it's members were able to locate their nuts in time but things are different this year and Convicted have managed to scrap together a decent enough looking team. Chris Karter is missing after finding international stardom as a pop idol but instead you have former #1 Freako Wimp to carry the load (something he is know for within his alliance) and current top #30 manager Marcus Crassus. Other Convicted INC members are Jason Smith who at one time rose as high as #3 but who has yet to show the same potential and returning manager Chris Meat who has a career best of #13.

Overall a solid looking team but with some question marks on a couple of it's members as to whether they can perform to a high enough standard consistently. They are drawn in Group C with last year's bronze medallists the FinnFighters and it's likely that they will have to go toe to toe with them to decide who tops the group. Either way, Convicted INC are expected to coast into the champions phase with little trouble but whether they have the overall quality to win this whole thing, well, that is up for debate.

(#4)

Syndicate

(Combined Best #56, Combined Current #229)

J.W Hardman (Best Rank 2, Current Rank 2)
David Septim (Rank 4, Current Rank 83)
Igor Peixoto (Best Rank 6, Current Rank 49)
Benjamin Halle (Rank 44, Current Rank 95)

Syndicate are one of the newer alliances in MMATycoon and they will be looking to make a name for themselves in their first ever AWC. Many might be quick to overlook them but a closer inspection gives a glimpse into a rather talented group of managers. Led by alliance leader J.W Hardman, he is currently at a career best rank of #2 and working hard to take that #1 spot. He is backed up by veteran players David Septim (career best #4) and Igot Peixoto (#6) and lastly newcomer Benjamin Halle who has reached as high as #44 in less than a year.

Syndicate find themselves drawn into an absolute killer of a group in Group B and will need to be at their very best to fend off of the likes of last years runners up The Stepdads. With every match likely to be a tough one it is difficult to say where Syndicate will end up but I'm picking them out as the Dark Horses of the tournament and think they have a very good shot of making it into the final 8 championship phase.

(#5)

FinnFighters

(Combined Best #32, Combined Current #775)

Jorma Oltsu (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 93)
Marky Mark (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 181)
Zenaral Menatzer (Best Rank 4, Current Rank 150)
Frank Abbott (Best Rank 26, Current Rank 351)

Last years bronze medallists the FinnFighters return and as one of the oldest alliances in the game they will be bringing with them a ton of experienced managers once again. Though every single manager on their team has been playing for over ten years and have mostly reached as high as #1 individually, it's fair to say that they are no longer playing at that high level these days and could just be going through the motions for this one. Fielding a completely unchanged team from last time baring the change from five fighters per team down to four, team FinnFighters consists of former #1 managers Marky Mark and Jorma Oltsu, Zenaral Manatzer who has a career best of #4 and Frank Abbott (#26)

FinnFighters find themselves drawn in Group C with their main competition likely to be Convicted INC and Naughtly Crew 2. As previously mentioned, the biggest question mark concerning this team is their levels of motivation. Last year, their experience and skill was enough to carry them to a well deserved third place finish. This year, the competition looks to be much tougher and so they might not be able to rely solely on their veteran status alone to guarantee a place in the final eight. Most would expect them to manage it given the rest of their competition in Group C but still, it could end up being tougher than they thought.

(#6)

Naughtly Crew 1

(Combined Best #36, Combined Current #346)

Randall McSweeney (Rank Rank 4, Current Rank 102)
Joe River (Best Rank 6, Current Rank 163)
Andy Down (Best Rank 8, Current Rank 43)
Doctor John Zoidberg (Best Rank 18, Current Rank 38)

Picture the scene. Everyone hanging around having a blast, laughing and being friendly. Good times right? Then someone suggests entering a competition together that would mean drawing teams. All of a sudden all the “cool” kids have buddied up together and left the rest of you standing around twiddling your thumbs like the fat kids and nerds in PE class. Well, that's what happened here with this bunch of morons deciding they are the “best” of Naughtly Crew. (Pfft! Whatever. Not one former #1 ranked manager amongst them) Probably the best on the team is Randall McSweeny who hasn't been relevant in like forever. Then you have Andy Down who cried when he dropped out of the Top 10 and has sulked ever since. Next up a very sleep deprived Docter John Zoidberg who I don't even think has time to set his sliders anymore and lastly gentleman Joe River who we won't say anything bad about because he is far too nice. Real Alpha Team right here folks.

Naughtly Crew 1 are drawn in the Group B group of death which is about what they deserve. I wish I could take credit for making it so but everyone saw that the draw was done fairly and in real time. Overall, their chances of making it into the final eight is very tough to predict. With last year's runner's up The Stepdads likely to take the top spot, the remaining qualifying spot will be extremely hard fought and NC1 are going to need good, consistent results against some very tough other teams to snatch it. Let's be honest, they will most likely choke.

(#7)

Keyboard Warriors

(Combined Best #216, Combined Current #389)

Louie DePalma (Best Rank 3, Current Rank 12)
Don Xyel (Best Rank 3, Current Rank 104)

P J Jones (Best Rank 15, Current Rank 19)
Judo Beau (Best Rank 195, Current Rank 254)

Another fairly large and well established alliance making their AWC debut this year are the Keyboard Warriors who were started sometime around the summer of 2018 by founding members Louie DePalma and Aylib2.0. Unfortunately for them, Aylib has since recently gone AWOL leaving it down to Louise DePalma to captain the team solo. With a career best of #3 he is currently in good form and remains close to that spot at #12. Backing him up will be fellow high flyer PJ Jones with a best of #15 and current of #19 as well as returning vet and former #3 Don Xyel and Judo Beau (Career best #195)

Keyboard Warriors find themselves drawn in Group A with reigning champs YABAI and likely rivals for a qualifying spot, The Guardians. The Keyboard Warriors certainly have some talented managers amongst themselves and the quality to make a push for the final eight but whether they can get the big wins against the big players of the group that is another question entirely.

(#8)

Legion of Doom

(Combined Best #63, Combined Current #512)

Power Shark (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 164)
Mike Hunt (Best Rank 9, Current Rank 234)
Runt (Best Rank 20, Current Rank 81)
Corey Mcgraugh (Best Rank 33, Current Rank 33)

The largest alliance in the game were shockingly unable to field a team last time out and so it was a pleasant surprise to see them manage it without any trouble this time around. In truth, it's not a bad team at all. Sure there are some big name managers from the alliance that won't be participating but they will be led by former #1 ranked manager Power Shark who will be keen to move on from his failed elbow only monstrosity from last years coalition team. Tycoon vet Mike Hunt will be bringing years of experience and a top 10 best alongside Runt and Corey McGraugh who have a career best of #20 and #33 respectively.

Legion of Doom have unfortunately found themselves drawn in a particularly tough group consisting of teams such as last years runners up The Stepdads, alliance pyramid division one team Syndicate along with Naughtly Crew 1 and Limitless. With such a competitive group, predicting a finishing spot is extremely difficult. All five of these teams could potentially finish within the top two qualifying places and we can only hope that one of the two wildcard third place spots end up going to a team in this group. With no guarantee of that however all we can know for certain is that this group is going to be a warzone.

(#9)

The Guardians

(Combined Best #354, Combined Current #504)

Blake Phoenix (Best Rank 1, Current Rank 6)
John Daugherty (Best Rank 20, Current Rank 62)
Robert Smith (Best Rank 79, Current Rank 99)
Alexei Smirnov (Best Rank 254, Current Rank 337)

The Guardians make their AWC debut as one of the newer alliances of the game having been established sometime in 2020 by leader John Daugherty. Already having had a taste of division one competition in the alliance pyramid, The Guardians have a decent mix of top established managers and hungry new recruits. The star of their team is without question the constantly high performing former #1 Blake Phoenix followed up by team leader John Daugherty himself who has a career best of #20. Making up the rest of the team are the newer managers Robert Smith who has managed to crack the top 100 in his short time and Alexei Smirnov who is still learning the ropes having only started late last year.

Drawn in Group A with last years champions YABAI, The Guardians are still considered to have strong chance of making it into the final eight depending on their results against the likes of the Keyboard Warriors who will provide stern opposition. There are still question marks on their team overall however and it's likely that their finishing spot in this tournament will be largely down to the performances of their less experienced managers. If they can manage some decent results then The Guardians stand to have a solid tournament.

(#10)

Limitless

(Combined Best #138, Combined Current #872)

Milo Paris (Best Rank 25, Current Rank 46)
Clubber Winger (Best Rank 25, Current Rank 139)
Tristan Finch (Best Rank 48, Current Rank 78)
Rob Roy (Best Rank 40, Current Rank 609)

Limitless was the brainchild of Clubber Winger sometime back in March of 2020 before leaving and returning recently to captain this alliance in it's first ever AWC tournament. Winger himself has reached as high as #25 during his almost four years in the game along side Milo Paris who has also matched that ranking but in a much longer period of involvement. Elsewhere they have veteran manager Rob Roy who is currently some way away from his best rank of #40 and newer manager Tristan Finch with a career best of #48.

Limitless have been drawn in the extremely tough Group B and though they have a nice mix of older and newer players, they are perhaps missing the truly high level managers capable of mixing it up with the very best in the game? They will find the going very hard indeed and will do well not to end up last out of the five and moving into the Bottom Phase finals to determine who comes last out of the fifteen teams in this tournament. Can they upset the odds here or will they end up the whipping boys of Group B?

(#11)

Naughtly Crew 2

(Combined Best 307, Combined Current #926)

Shaun Skaggs (Best Rank 3, Current Rank 260)
Alfred Winterbottom (Best Rank 14, Current Rank 177)
V Caliman (Best Rank 107, Current Rank 115)
Bobby Bowen (Best Rank 138, Current Rank 334)

The name may say Naughtly Crew 2 but make no mistake, this team is the real Naughtly Crew team to watch for from this alliance. First up there is returning vet Shaun Skaggs who at his best managed to hit the lofty heights of #3 (the best anyone in the alliance has done) followed by fearless Alfred Winterbottom who reached #14 many years ago before the game and it's owner decided to conspire against him and his fight results. Next there is the Rio playboy V Caliman who has been playing almost a year and is close to cracking the top 100 and lastly Bobby Bowen who had to be reminded to put his fighter in a gym in preparation for this tournament.

Naughtly Crew 2 have been drawn alongside last years third place team FinnFighters as well as established high level alliance Convicted INC. If they have any hopes of reaching the champions stage of this competition then they are going to have to get results against those two teams right there but they must also be sure not to overlook the hungry, up and coming and less established teams of ACME 2 and Team Panda. To do so would be foolish and that's one thing the Naughtly Crew are not (at least these four members aren't)

(#12)

Naughtly Crew 3

(Combined Best #278, Combined Current #1114)

Mello Jones (Best Rank 15, Current Rank 197)
Optimal MMA Picks (Best Rank 24, Current Rank 40)
Paul Huntingdon (Best Rank 67, Current Rank 414)
Master Tessin (Best Rank 172, Current Rank 463)

Once upon a time there was an alliance called The Evil Empire and it was good. Full of life and kind hearted people, all was well there or so at least they thought. One shameful day, Butch Harris took his 30 pieces of silver and left in the dark of night without saying a word. The next morning when the good people awoke, they saw that Butch had created a new alliance called Cromulent Doom and had filled its ranks with low lives and bastards. From that moment on they became mortal enemies until at last justice was done when The Evil Empire heroically vanquished them in last years Alliance World Championship. Having reconciled their differences on the battlefield, The Evil Empire and Cromulent Doom decided to join forces and thus created the best and most active alliance in the game and so were able to field three full teams in this years tournament. They will be led by up and coming manager Optimal MMA Picks who, armed with a ridiculous manager name and less then a years experience, has managed to climb to #24 in the rankings. Elsewhere there is Mello Jones (best rank #15) and Paul Huntingdon (best rank #67) who are both long term veterans of the game and Master Tessin (#172) who has been involved since mid 2018.

Naughtly Crew 3 have been drawn in Group A and, realistically, aren't really in contention for a spot in the final eight Champions phase. Whilst they have a fair amount of experience and talent between them its true that most of the team haven't been performing at a particularly high level of late and could perhaps be described as more casual players. This is absolute fine as Naughtly Crew is a place for all types of manager but should they come last in the group they will be forced into exile and banished from the NC.

(#13)

ACME 1

(Combined Best #702, Combined Current #957)

Rob Devastation (Best Rank 122, Current Rank 157)
Saklain Javid (Best Rank 142, Current Rank 198)
Yamashita Craven (Best Rank 211, Current Rank 332)
Lincoln Hawks (Best Rank 227, Current Rank 270)

One of the most intriguing entries into this years Alliance World Championships is the new alliance ACME started by returning manager Paul Dengel. Full of new and up and coming managers, ACME have managed to do what most other larger and more established alliances haven't and that is field multiple teams. This will be ACME 1 and though there doesn't seem to be any obvious tactical reasons for the way their teams line up, this one could perhaps be said to be performing a little better collectively currently. Their best performer is currently new manager Rob Devastation who with just over a year in the game has managed to crack the top 100. He is joined by even newer manager Saklain Javid who has a career best of #142 in around five months, Yamashita Craven (#211) and returning manager Lincoln Hawks who's best shows as #227 but could actually be higher.

ACME 1 have been drawn in Group A alongside last years champions YABAI and tougher teams such as The Guardians and Keyboard Warriors. Their chances of making it into the final eight seem slim but with such little known about them it will be interesting to see how they fare when it comes down to it. Likely however is that their most competitive rivalry will be between themselves and Naughtly Crew 3 and a fight over avoiding a bottom place finish in the group and moving into the Bottom Phase of the tournament.

(#14)

ACME 2

(Combined Best #613, Combined Current #1546)

Paul Dengel (Best Rank 79, Current Rank 358)
Darren Russell (Best Rank 97, Current Rank 364)
Thaddeus Banks (Best Rank 136, Current Rank 342)
Eli Cendle (Best Rank 301, Current Rank 482)

ACME's second entry into the tournament has a little more experience than the first but is currently operating at a slightly lower level collectively. ACME 2 is led by alliance head honcho Paul Dengal who has a current best of #79 but with his return to the game his previous details are not available and so it could be higher still. Next up is Darren Russell (Best #97) along with Thaddeus Banks (#136) who have both been around for a few years now joining the game sometime back in 2017. Rounding out the team is Eli Cendle who, on paper at least, has the most experience of all but has never quite managed to reach higher than #301.

ACME 2 find themselves drawn into Group C and though certainly not the worst group possible, it does contain last year's third place team FinnFighters as well as highly regarded Convicted INC. There's no sugar coating this one, ACME 2 are expected to struggle with a place in the final eight looking to be all but a pipe dream. Their best chances of a win are likely to come against obvious rivals Team Panda and a solid goal for them would be to avoid a bottom place finish and a date in the Bottom Phase to decide who comes last out of all 15 teams. With nothing to lose however, the pressure will be completely off and it will be interesting to see if they can upset the apple cart anywhere along the way.

(#15)

Team Panda

(Combined Best #725, Combined Current #1433)

Cope T (Best Rank 40, Current Rank 209)
Pika Choo (Best Rank 59, Current Rank 116)
Raichu Kong (Best Rank 209, Current Rank 526)
Joe Snitsky (Best Rank 417, Current Rank 582)

The final team to complete this years list of entrants is the newly created Team Panda who will be led by founder Pika Choo who has a career best of #59 and has been involved in the game from early 2017. He will be joined by similarly experienced managers such as Cope T (career best of #40), the fearless and always game Raichu Kong (#209) and the most experienced of the bunch Joe Snitsky (#417).

Team Panda have been drawn into Group C and with little in the way of expectations, will be free to run havoc on the most established and competitive teams in the group. Some of the managers involved such as Choo and Kong have extensive tournament experience and this will be invaluable no question but overall, Team Panda are going to be seen as chum in a sea of Sharks and will need some truly miraculous performances to avoid a bottom place fate. Their most obvious rivalry will be with ACME 2 and they will very likely need a good result against them if they are to make it into the Middle Phase Finals of the tournament.

ROUND ONE - PREVIEW

With less then a week to go until the opening round of the 2021 Alliance World Championship, twelve of the fifteen teams will be busy making their final preparations and gearing up for what is always a very intriguing part of all tournaments. Let's take a closer look at the round one match ups.

In Group A, reigning champions YABAI will be getting ready to defend their title as they take on potentially one of the toughest rival teams in the group the Keyboard Warriors

A big showdown at 135lbs as team captains Jay Reepo (Bwang Jong Sr) and Akio Kurosaki (Louie DePalma) vie to get their teams off a big start and to be honest, there is very little to choose between the two of them. At 155lbs, Bishop Bonesteel (Esiah Xavier) will be favourite against unknown quantity Aung Siang (PJ Jones) and Bofur Widenose (Don Xyel) will go in as a slight favorite against Omer Demirci (Jack King). Heavyweight finds the first real gimme match up as Huber Schlesian (Carlos Castenada) takes on massive underdog Felix Suarez (Judo Beau) though Suarez did look good in his trials match up. Could be a sleeper as both fighters are known to be able to take a punch. The key difference will come from their respective management teams.

Prediction: YABAI to take three of the four bouts in a close fought, highly competitive match up. It's very close though and Keyboard Warriors are definitely in a with a chance at this early stage.

In the other Group A match up The Guardians take on minnows ACME 1 who will be keen to cast aside assumptions that they are here purely to fill the numbers.

135lbs is likely to go The Guardians way as team captain Kaspar Kalleste (John Daugherty) takes on Muay Thai expert Devin Russel (Saklain Javid) but at 155lbs (Isak Hardrada (Alexei Smirnov) vs. Torn Brot (Yamashita Craven) and 185lbs (Matt Cosce (Robert Smith) vs. Gretchen Alexander (Rob Devastation) things are lot less clear and could be the opportunity ACME 1 need to provide an upset. At heavyweight things look like a guaranteed win for The Guardians as Drax Bautista (Blake Phoenix) takes on Peter Kowalski (Lincoln Hawks) and the bookies confirm this with some big odds against Kowalski pulling off the miracle.

Prediction: The Guardians by a decent margin. Looking forward to seeing ACME in action and ahead to the potential upsets but this one might be a little too much to handle.

The remaining team Naughtly Crew 3 will be highly relieved to have an extra eighteen days of preparations considering there not so flattering chances of making it into the higher final phases.

Moving over to the group of death, Group B, we have Limitless taking on Legion of Doom, two AWC alliances making their debuts.

135lbs looks to be a tough call as granite chinned Paolo Del Geno (Milo Paris) takes on the identically iron jawed Solomon Grundy (Runt). Del Geno's wrestling advantage might be a big factor in this but Grundy looks to have the more technical hands so if it stays at range it could go LOD's way. The bookies have 155lbs going to LOD as unknown underdog Trey Limitless (Tristan Finch) looks to overcome the granite chin of Bob Probert (Corey Mcgraugh) and at 185lbs things seem even more in favour of LOD as Heinrich Von Slackenfuchs (Rob Roy) takes on LOD team captain John Rackham (Power Shark). Limitless will be hoping that team captain Slim Towney (Clubber Winger) can prove the bookies correct with a win over Richard Anderson and his veteran manager Mike Hunt

Prediction: Legion of Doom by a fair amount. Limitless would do well to even this up at two apiece and keep the scores respectable.

Elsewhere, a big match up for the group as newcomers and possible dark horses for the title Syndicate take on the Naughtly Crew “first” team.

135lbs is expected to be a tightly contested affair as Syndicates Dreynos Elvul (David Septim) takes on Naughtly Crews heavy handed slugger Clint River (Joe River). Team captains Slash Shredder (JW Hardman) and Jake Keane (Randall McSweeny) meet at 155lbs and the bookies have Shredder taking this for Syndicate. Another tight contest at 185lbs with Al Hoffa (Igor Peixoto) and Reggie Booker (Andy Down) going toe to toe but heavyweight might favour Naughtly Crew as Austrian born Kevin Mamar (Doc Zoidberg) takes on Syndicates Sono Tiger (Benjamin Halle). Mamar is known for having the heart of a warrior and this will definitely help him against the superior Muay Thai skills of Tiger.

Prediction: A very close fought match up and could go either way. Potentially even a draw. Two fights apiece.

The remaining Group B team is last years runners up The Stepdads and as if they needed any more opportunity to grow stronger. They'll be able to sit back and watch the group unfold and then come in super prepared for round two.

Group C brings us an interesting opener with heavy hitters Convicted INC taking on new boys and massive underdogs Team Panda. If things weren't going to be tough enough already, Team Panda might also end up fighting this one with one hand tied behind there back as manager Joe Snitsky has yet to sign the fight agreement with only a few days left to go.

At 135lbs we have Convicted's Nevez Amadaus (Chris Meat) taking on Napoleon Panda (Pika Choo) and it looks to be a pure old school grappler versus striker affair that could go any way. At 155lbs Rico Axelrod (Jason Smith) takes on Canadian brawler Jacques Turcotte (Cope T) in another close affair and 185lbs is currently set to be a 5 point victory for Convicted's Haitian Ginger (Freako Wimp) unless Otto Graf (Joe Snitsky) steps up in time for Team Panda. At heavyweight Ghengis Khan (Marcus Crassus) opens as a heavy favourite over Jacko Dawson (Raichu Kong) and looks set to take home some serious points.

Prediction: Even if Otto Graf makes it back in time for the fight, Convicted Inc are likely victors in this one. Team Panda have a shot at snatching a couple of the fights but heavyweight looks a little too one sided to overcome.

The last match up of the card features ACME's second team taking on Naughtly Crew's second team and this could end up being a very important conflict indeed.

Something of a grappler versus striker showdown at 135lbs with Glenn Welch (Eli Cendle) taking on Norman Pike (Bobby Bowen). A close looking fight and no real obvious pick here. At 155lbs, it could be going Naughtly Crew's way with Australian Muay Thai specialist Brett Keane (Thaddeu Banks) taking on Brazil's Christian Caliman (V Caliman). Keane will be the slight underdog largely due to the difference in their managers rankings. 185lbs also leaning Naughtly Crew's way with both team captains going head to head. ACME's Korean brawler Mun So (Paul Dengal) is going to have a tough time dealing with the wrestling advantage of Naughtly Crew's Ander's Thorsen (Shaun Skaggs) and will need to make very good use of his proficient boxing skills. At heavyweight things look much closer as we have another potential grappler versus striker match up. Wonderful boxing skills of unknown fighter Fidel DeLuna (Darren Russel) taking on the wonderful wrestling skills of Dick Glover (Alfred Winterbottom)

Prediction: On paper it looks as though Naughtly Crew should take it but ACME will be looking to prove the naysayers wrong

The remaining Group C team is last year's third place team FinnFighters and they will no doubt be cooking up some diabolical plan to cheat their way into a favourable spot.

Mun So made a few comments after this morning's session in the ACME training camp.  "Anders looks big the dude is swollen.  Guess he's been eating his Ugly-O's.  I'll be serving him like eggs over easy, he's going to runny and leaking on the mat when I am done with him."

He laughed and high fived teammate Glenn Welch.  "I'm looking forward to giving you a Valentine's day present Anders ... I Kneed you!"

Fidel DeLuna jokingly asked Mun if he heard what Anders said about his mother, Mun got serious “나는 어머니를 사랑합니다. 나는 그의 얼굴에 똥을 싸고 그는 내 똥으로 멍청이를 할 수 있습니다.”

2021 Alliance World Championships

Round 1 Recap

Group A

The 2021 edition of the AWC got off with a bang as last years champions YABAI took on debuting alliance Keyboard Warriors. Team captains Jay Reepo (YABAI) and Akio Kurosaki (Keyboard Warriors) got thing going in a somewhat lacklustre three round snoozefest. YABAI got the decision win and went ahead 2-0. Bishop Bonesteel (YABAI) followed this up with a perfectly executed guillotine submission victory over Aung Siang putting YABAI well ahead at 7-0 and looking as though the defending champions were on course for an emphatic win. Then it all came crashing down as Keyboard Warriors 185lbs entry Bofur Widenose took out Omer Demirci with a first round submission and then at heavyweight, Felix Suarez (Keyboard Warriors) earned himself a submission of the night award with a slick first round arm triangle submission over YABAI's Huber Schlesian to win the match up 10-7.

A disastrous collapse for YABAI after looking solid in the lighter weights but an interesting result none the less. YABAI have faced a similar situation last year and if we recall, took a little while to warm up so to speak. Will they follow the same course this year? They have three more attempts to go in this initial group stage.

A massive victory for Keyboard Warriors who were without question slight underdogs going into this one. An early win over YABAI, the number one ranked alliance in the game, and straight into a qualifying spot at number two in their group.

The other Group A match up pitted two debuting alliances against each other. Favourites The Guardians taking on the completely unfancied ACME 1. The Guardians team captain Kaspar Kallaste surprised no one as he took three points from his third round TKO over ACME's Devin Russel and earned himself a double bonus of KO of the night and Fight of the Night. ACME pulled one back immediately however when total all rounder Torn Brot scored a first round submission win over The Guardians Isak Hardrada and taking the lead at 5-3. As if that wasn't surprise enough, at 185lbs, Gretchen Alexander (ACME) managed to pull off a late first round submission over Matt Cosce and shockingly won the match up for ACME with still one fight to go. At 10 points to 3, they had put themselves too far ahead to be caught. At heavyweight Drax Bautista managed a consolation victory for The Guardians with a third round TKO over Peter Kowalski but it wasn't a great performance from a fighter managed by Blake Phoenix and credit must go to Kowalski for hanging in there so long.

ACME 1 defeat The Guardians by a very surprising score of 10 points to 6 and take an early lead in the Group A standings. Not many would have offered them a chance here and praise must be given for a superb collective performance. The question on everyone's mind now however is whether ACME can hold firm in the face of some very tough bouts coming up. Most bookmakers would say no chance but for the moment, ACME 1 are the team to beat in Group A.

A surprise loss for The Guardians and with the lesser experienced managers in the team unfortunately being the main cause. Veteran managers John Daugherty and Blake Phoenix got the individual wins but they weren't quite good enough on this occasion and The Guardians will need to do better if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the Champions phase.

Group B

Group B was preliminarily dubbed the group of death and after the result of this match up between debut alliances Limitless and Legion of Doom it is easy to see why.

An extremely close fought match up at 135lbs between Limitless' Paolo Del Geno and LOD's Solomon Grundy ended via a split decision in favour of Del Geno and earned both fighters the Fight of the Night award. Limitless pushed ahead in the 155lbs division where submission wrestler Trey Limitless took out LOD's Bob Probert in a couple of minutes of the first round, giving Limitless a 7-0 lead. It took LOD's team captain John Rackham to turn the tide at 185lbs after a three round unanimous decision victory over concrete jawed Heinrich Von Slackenfuchs (Limitless) and a big result at heavyweight as LOD's Richard Anderson got one over on Limitless' team captain Slim Towney winning the bout via round one TKO and earning the maximum five points to end the match up as a 7-7 draw.

On reflection, a draw seems a fair result as both teams were evenly matched. Legion of Doom jump into second place in the group, ahead by virtue of spending less time in the cage with their victories. Still, it's very early for that to matter too much at the moment and Legion of Doom will need to improve further if they are to go compete with the other teams in the group. They do seem to have a very solid bunch in their ranks though and it's going to be interesting to see if they can reach their full potential in time here.

Limitless also currently in a qualifying spot as one of the two best placed third place teams. As already mentioned, it's still a little early in the game to get caught up in that but it's not a terrible place to start for a team that were considered to be the weakest of a very tough group. They look very strong at 135lbs and could have potential elsewhere and can look to build on this result going forward.

Elsewhere in Group B, we had the dark horse alliance of Syndicate taking on the bastard four of Naughtly Crew 1.

It seemed as though it was going to be an interesting match up from the start and it didn't let us down. Syndicate's Dreynos Elvul drew first blood when he took out NC1's Clint River at 135lbs in just under four minutes of the first round and earned himself submission of the night honours for his troubles. Jake Keane managed to scrape a couple of points back for Naughtly Crew however with a decision victory over Syndicate team captain Slash Shredder at 155lbs and Reggie Booker's decision victory over Al Hoffa at 185lbs gave them the lead 6-5. Going into the heavyweight bout with everything on the line, most would have favoured Naughtly Crew's Kevin Mamar to get the job done but those in the know knew that Mamar's manager Doc Zoidberg was a notorious choke artist and in just thirty-four seconds of the first round, those fears were realised. Syndicate's Sono Tiger earning himself a KO of the night award and handing Naughtly Crew 1 a very bitter defeat.

With the collective victory, Syndicate take the top of the table by a clear two points and confirm early predictions that they are a team to be respected. Definitely some improvements can be made but for the moment they look solid at 135lbs and heavyweight.

For Naughtly Crew 1, this is a big loss and one that puts them right at the bottom of the group and on course for a date in the bottom phase finals. On paper, things aren't quite as bad as all that with a 2-2 result overall but there will be concerns at heavyweight after such a poor performance. Much better results are going to be needed with still some very tough match ups yet to come.

Group C

In Group C, the mighty Convicted Inc made their AWC debuts against the last placed ranked team of Team Panda. Team Panda, also making their AWC debuts looked set to receive the thrashing of a lifetime but, with nothing to lose, were not going down without a fight.

At 135lbs, Team Panda captain Napoleon Panda scored a quick first round submission victory over Convicted Inc's Nevez Amadaus to put Team Panda ahead 5-0. A great result for them and one that earned Panda submission of the night honours. At 155lbs, Canadian brawler Jacques Turcotte (Team Panda) managed to finish his bout against New York native Rico Axelrod midway through the third round and surprisingly put Team Panda further ahead 8-0. An exciting fight that seemed to be going Axelrod's way until the finish earned both fighters Fight of the Night awards. Perhaps sensing the match slipping away from them, Convicted Inc team captain Haitian Ginger made no mistakes in battering Panda's Otto Graf in just fourteen seconds of the first round to close the gap to 8-5 with one fight to go. Convicted Inc needed a first or second round victory at heavyweight to avoid the upset and with heavy favourite Ghengis Khan stepping up to the plate, you would have bet the house that he would deliver. Opponent Jacko Dawson (managed by perennial party pooper Raichu Kong) was having none of it and, clearly frustrated by the lack of faith in his abilities by the media at the start of this, put a clinch clinic on Khan that forced the doctor to stop the fight due to a cut in the first round and helped Team Panda secure an emphatic 13-5 victory over heavy favourites Convicted Inc.

An incredible result for Team Panda puts them at the top of Group C after one round. Of course, there is still a long road ahead and despite this terrific performance, it is doubtful that they will be able to hold on to first place. The prospect of the lowest ranked team making it into the Champions phase finals is an interesting one though and many eyes will be upon them in their upcoming match ups.

For Convicted Inc, this result must come as a big surprise and one that could derail any prospects of making it into the champions phase finals. There were rumblings upon the initial announcement of their team that perhaps this wasn't the best four that Convicted could put out and you have to now wonder if that decision isn't one that will come back to haunt them. Convicted Inc have long been an alliance respected for their high ranking managers but to not make it into the final eight would surely cause a significant dent in their reputation.

The last remaining match up of the tournament was the battle of alliance second teams as ACME 2 took on Naughtly Crew 2.

There were concerns from the Naughtly Crew team as Norman Pike looked to be far from fight ready in his 135lbs bout against ACME's Glenn Welch but these fears were in vain as he and his half full energy tank were able to get the stoppage win midway through round three and get Naughtly Crew 2 off to a winning start 3-0. ACME 2 returned fire however as Brett Keane managed a fifty-five second first round knockout over Brazilian brawler Christian Caliman at 155lbs and took the lead for ACME 5-3. A tough match up between team captains Mun So (ACME) and Anders Thorsen (NC2) almost ended in decision before Thorsen was able to get the TKO finish mere seconds before the bell and add three points to the Naughtly Crew 2 tally and at heavyweight ACME's Fidel DeLuna was able to bloody his opponent Dick Glover before being taken down and brutalised himself forcing the doctor to stop the fight in round one due to cuts. Naughtly Crew 2 take the match 11 points to 5.

A solid opening for Naughtly Crew 2 who move straight into a qualifying spot in second place but who might also count their blessings with a couple of the results. Still, a nice place to start and a result they can take confidence from moving forward.

Not a terrible outing for ACME 2 despite the bad result overall. Their fighters showed some serious heart managing to hold on until the later rounds in their losses for the most part and a nice result at 185lbs for them. They drop to fourth in the table which would mean them avoiding the bottom phase finals of which they were predicted to be major contenders for and in turn means they could potentially finish anywhere between 9th and 12th currently as it stands.

ROUND TWO - PREVIEW

With only eighteen days in between fights, the action is going to be coming thick and fast. With such minimal training time for each of the fighters, finishing quick is also doubly as important. Finish fast equals more points and back into the gym all the sooner.

Let's take a look at what's coming up during Round 2 of this Alliance World Championship group stage.

Kicking off the action in Group A will be The Guardians taking on Naughtly Crew 3. Last time out, The Guardians suffered a shock upset defeat against ACME 1 and will be chomping at the bit to put things right. Naughtly Crew 3 of course enjoying a first round bye and will no doubt be looking to follow the blueprint laid out by ACME in defeating a more highly regarded team.

A massive fight at 135lbs as team captains Stuart Burrows (NC3) takes on Kaspar Kallaste for The Guardians. Kallaste looked good in his opening round fight and Burrows, who is without question their teams brightest hope, will be wary of expectations coming into this. A classic grappler versus striker match up with take downs and take down defence being absolutely crucial in this. At 155lbs Ultimate Warriors (NC3) takes on Isak Hardrada (The Guardians) who was one of the culprits in last weeks loss for his team. He found himself caught in a submission and he could be facing similar problems this time out. Still, nothing too much between them according to the bookies. 185Lbs sees unknown quantity Tran Quaach (NC3) taking on The Guardians Matt Cosce. Cosce, also one to slip up last time, found himself on the receiving end of a submission but there's little chance of that happening again in this one as he faces the wonderful Muay Thai skills on Thailand's Quuach. Bookies have Cosce as a slight favourite. The heavyweight bout looks just about sown up for The Guardians as Drax Bautista takes on Uncle Abner in a rematch from their trials bout. There Bautista easily defeated Abner by avoiding his take down attempts and keeping the fight on the feet. Still, the trials match ups are much shorter and many will say are not even real fights. However you see it, the bookies have Bautista as a heavy favourite and Abner would do well to survive all three rounds.

Prediction: The Guardians to redeem themselves though it could just as easily head the same way as in their last match up. 155Lbs & 185lbs look to be a complete toss up. 135Lbs looks highly competitive and 265lbs seems to be the only real obvious looking points for them. Currently bottom of the group after the first round, The Guardians desperately need this one to have any real shot at making it into the championship phase finals.

Elsewhere in Group A we have an intriguing showdown between reigning champions YABAI and shock upstart alliance ACME 1. YABAI are off to a bad start after losing to Keyboard Warriors in round one whereas ACME 1 managed to take the scalp of favourites The Guardians in their match up. Many sets of eyes will be set firmly upon this one with everyone curious as to whether ACME can pull off another big upset. This time against better competition and with more at stake.

The bantamweight match up leans heavily towards YABAI with team captain Jay Reepo taking on ACME 1's Devin Russel. Reepo got the decision win over a tough opponent last time out whereas Russel was battered for almost the entirety of three rounds before being stopped. Despite showing some serious heart and a perfectly executed moonwalk on his way to the ring, it's very unlikely that he is going to have much for YABAI's head honcho. 155Lbs could be interesting with 1-0 all rounder Torn Brot (ACME 1) taking on YABAI's Bishop Bonesteel. Both coming off successful outings in their first round match ups and both winning by submission. This could end up being a very interesting chess match. You would have to have the more experienced YABAI team as favourites to win however but don't sleep on Brot right now. 185Lbs is the only match up with ACME favoured to win in fact with their man Gretchen Alexander facing off against first round loser Omer Demirci. Demirci lost by submission in that one and Alexander won his bout by the same. Logic rarely works in MMA but you might assume Alexander to be the more prolific sub hunter at this current time. At heavyweight, two fighters coming off opening round losses. ACME's Peter Kowalski and YABAI's Huber Schlesian. Little was seen of Schesian in his bout after losing to a flash submission but Kowalski showed himself to have some real fight in him after surviving almost three whole rounds of abuse. Schelsian down as favourite for this one but Kowalski might be a very tempting underdog for serious gamblers.

Prediction: YABAI to walk this one. ACME had their moment but this is a new day and, whilst this writer loves the underdog, YABAI is a different animal entirely. As reigning champions YABAI cannot afford another slip up and they will be well aware of that. They will also be aware of ACME's first round result and be wary of succumbing to the same fate as The Guardians. It's unthinkable that YABAI not make it into the champions phase finals but that is the reality of this match up. The pressure is on and it's not on ACME.

The last remaining team in Group A will be Keyboard Warriors who are will be resting up after a superb victory in a key clash against reigning champions YABAI. Currently second in the group standings and occupying a qualifying spot, they will no doubt be keeping a close eye whether anyone is able to leapfrog them.

Moving over to the Group B group of death we have last years runners up The Stepdads taking on dark horse alliance Syndicate. The Stepdads, boosted by the extra training time during their round one bye, will be looking to steal Syndicates position at the top of the table and Syndicate will be chomping at the bit to test themselves against such a dangerous team.

Something of a mirror match at 135lbs to kick things off. Syndicates Dreynos Elvul, fresh off his round one victory takes on The Stepdads Ricky Greene. Nothing much in it at this early stage. Could go either way. A big showdown at 155lbs with team captains Shinji Tomoguchi (Stepdads) and Slash Shredder (Syndicate) going head to head. Shredder, extremely disappointed with his round one decision loss, will be looking to make amends for his performance there but Tomoguchi will want to get off to a bang in his own AWC debut. Again, tough to call. Could go either way. 185Lbs might be in Syndicates favour with Al Hoffa taking on The Stepdads completely unknown Maximus DeMarcus Meridius. Hoffa, also unsuccessful in his first round match up after losing a close three round decision, will need every ounce of his wonderful wrestling skills against Billy Arseworth protege Meridius if he too is to redeem himself after his debut outing here. At heavyweight we have The Stepdads Bruce Hood taking on Syndicates Sono Tiger. Hood looked to have a little power during his trials match up but Tiger was able to get things done when they count with his ferocious knockout over Kevin Mamar in his debut outing. Tiger, a slight favourite in this one but still a close looking fight.

Prediction: On paper, very close to call but you would have to give the edge to last years runner up The Stepdads. There are no obvious wins for them here though and it could just as easily end up going to Syndicate. Whatever happens however, this is a key match up for both teams. Syndicate could take a commanding lead in the table with a win and The Stepdads will be keen to prevent that.

In the other Group B match up we have bottom of the barrel Naughtly Crew 1 taking on third placed Limitless in what is likely to be a must win for the Naughtly Crew boys if they are to guarantee themselves a place in the championship phase finals. Limitless, who currently occupy one of the best placed third place teams, will be looking to push on into a guaranteed spot themselves.

At 135lbs it will be Limitless' shining star Paolo Del Geno taking on Naughtly Crew's Clint River. Del Geno had a gruelling match up during his first round bout with Solomon Grundy but managed to persevere and win a split decision. River on the other hand was disappointing in his first round submission loss and in giving up five points to his opponents. The bookies have Del Geno taking at least a couple points from this one. At 155lbs we have Naughtly Crew team captain Jake Keane taking on Trey Limitless for Limitless. Both fighters coming off of wins but both with very different approaches. Keane the striker and Limitless the grappler. A close one to call and this is reflected in the bookies offering of even odds. Naughtly Crew's Reggie Booker will be a heavy favourite over Heinrich Von Slackenfuchs after his decision victory last time out. Von Slackenfuchs himself coming in after a disapointing decision loss to Legion of Doom's John Rackham. Heavyweight will feature two fighters looking make up for poor performances during their first round match ups. Naughtly Crew's Kevin Mamar taken out in just thirty-four seconds and Limitless team captain Slim Towney only fairing slightly better making it a little over two minutes of the first round against Richard Anderson of LOD. An interesting style class with a wonderful wrestler going against a BJJ brown belt and likely to be far less explosive then their first round fights with neither fighter having any skill in the stand up.

Prediction: Another close one to call but with Naughtly Crew's edge in experience likely to tip it in their favour. 135Lbs will be one to watch along with the heavyweight bout. The winners of these is likely to swing it for their teams. Naughtly Crew need a win here if they want a chance at finishing in a respectable position but Limitless will be more than happy to drive a nail into the coffin of their tournament hopes.

Second place Legion of Doom will be happy to rest up during their round two bye after some gruelling match ups during their draw with Limitless in round one. Currently on one point and only separated by time with Limitless, it's likely they will be ousted from their current position here after the results come in.

On to Group C where things took a surprising turn last time out.

Making their first appearance at this years Alliance World Championship will be the 2020 third place team of the FinnFighters. They will be taking on the second team of newcomers ACME who are currently situated in fourth place.

At 135lbs we have unknown Finnish jiu-jitsu brown belt CG Mannheim and he will be taking on ACME's 0-1 Glenn Welch. Welch showed some serious heart last time out in his third round TKO loss to Norman Pike but there's likely to be far less striking in this one as both fighters tend to favour the ground. With no current information on Mannheim this one could really go either way. At 155lbs, ACME 2's sole winner last time out Brett Keane will be taking on FinnFighter's team captain Rokken Roll. Keane, fresh off of a ferocious fifty-five second KO win in his opening round bout, will be going down as favourite in this one against brawler Roll. ACME captain Mun So takes on untested Oke Swahn at 185lbs and he will be looking to push on from his third round TKO loss last time out. Again showing some serious determination to hang in there, So came agonisingly close to making it to a judges decision. At heavyweight, Finnish brawler Einar Kyrvansyyla takes on ACME 2's Fidel DeLuna who will be hoping for a chance to show off his wonderful boxing skills this time around after losing via cut from ground and pound in his first fight. Kyrvansyyla might just be the favourite going into this after looking good in trails.

Prediction: Fully expecting FinnFighters to get the job done here against new boys ACME 2 much in large due to their vast experience within the game. ACME came very close to a couple of decision losses last time out so they aren't looking like push overs at all here. Still, they aren't expected to do much better than fight for pride either at this point and I would be shocked if they did managed to overcome last years third place team FinnFighters.

Our last match up pits second place Naughtly Crew 2 against Convicted Inc who quite surprisingly occupy the bottom spot of the group. Convicted Inc, in serious danger of falling out of contention of the champions phase finals, will need a much better performance this time around if there are to defeat Naughtly Crew's band of determined warriors.

At 135lb, Norman Pike (NC2) takes on 0-1 Nevez Amadaus and will be going in as the favourite. Fresh off of a gritty third round win over Glenn Welch, he'll be looking to do the same here again against Amadaus who struggled to last a couple of minutes with submission specialist Napoleon Panda. At 155lbs we have Naughtly Crew's Christian Caliman taking on Convicted brawler Rico Axelrod. Both fighters coming off losses in their last fights but Caliman's in particular the most concerning after losing to underdog Brett Keane in under a minute. Fight could go either way but in truth, Axelrod looks the tougher prospect last time out. Both team captains go at it at 185lbs with Naughtly Crew's Anders Thorsen matching Haitain Ginger of Convicted Inc. Ginger, the only successful fighter from his team during their shock loss to Team Panda, will be looking to lead by example once again but Anders Thorsen also looking like a handful after his three round battering of Mun So in his opening round fight. Going to be interesting to see if Ginger can keep himself off of the ground in this one but otherwise the bookies have the fight as even. At heavyweight “Big” Dick Glover (NC2) takes on Convicted Inc's Ghengis Khan who showed little resemblance to his famous warlords namesake during his shock loss to Jacko Dawson of Team Panda. Glover the favourite following his KO victory in under a minute but not by much at all.

Prediction: You would have to fancy Naughtly Crew 2 as favourites in this one after Convicted Inc's first round performance against Team Panda. Of course, the potential is there for them, it's just a case of living up to it. For the moment however, Convicted look a rather poor excuse of a team and will need to do much better if they are to climb out from bottom place. Naughtly Crew chasing the top spot currently and determined to show they are the real top team of their alliance.

Taking their second round bye will be surprise package Team Panda who are fresh off of a superb underdog victory over Convicted Inc and currently hold first place in the group. A great opportunity for them to improve on what they already have and to come back in round three and prove their victory wasn't just a fluke.

Tbh I'll be very surprised if we win even one match this round. Thorsen is probably gonna whip my ass, and I'm not even sure if the three other guys on my team are still playing lol. Good luck to the Naughtly Crew.

It's ok. I blame myself (but mainly Karter)

I was so eager to get Convicted into the tournament that I chose to ignore all indications of them being deader than disco. I knew the writing was on the wall however when they had to dig up players from last decade to fill the team. A damn shame but then nothing is forever.

RIP Convicted Inc
