We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Schmitt shoots in but no luck this time. #TD2#
Schmitt shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Li manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Schmitt won't allow Li to sweep him here.
Schmitt wants to control from the top but Li keeps moving.

Schmitt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schmitt told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Li looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Schmitt is defending well. Li quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Schmitt has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Li celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.

Schmitt shoots in for a takedown but Brigand shows good takedown defense.
Darthos Brigand seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brigand throws a body punch but Schmitt moves out of range.
Schmitt tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Brigand slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.#CUT#It looks like Egon Schmitt has been cut.
Schmitt misses with a takedown
and Brigand counters with a right hand from hell and Schmitt is out cold! A vicious knockout!

Schmitt uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sandman.
Schmitt changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Schmitt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sandman throws out the jab.
Schmitt's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sandman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Schmitt scrambles back to his feet.
Sandman lands a jab to Schmitt's midsection.
Sandman Throws a clean left jab. Sandman Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Schmitt's chin! Schmitt crumbles to the ground and Sandman follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Sandman!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mr Sandman!
A relieved looking Mr Sandman thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |

Di Salvo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Schmitt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Schmitt is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Di Salvo's half guard.
Schmitt is pressing down on Di Salvo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Di Salvo is holding on for now.
Schmitt perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Schmitt connects with a nice short shot to Di Salvo's temple.
