Kovganov goes for a double leg but Smiff avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Smiff continues to drive forward.
Smiff tries to counter with a takedown but Kovganov is quick to defend against it.
Smiff throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smiff fails in his attempt to clinch. #TD#
Kovganov gets caught napping as Smiff dives in and scores a takedown. Kovganov manages to retain guard.
Smiff won't allow Kovganov to get back to his feet.
Smiff is pushing down on Kovganov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kovganov is fighting to maintain full guard but Smiff has managed to sneak the leg through.
Smiff is taking a breather. Kovganov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smiff passes the guard and advances to mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smiff is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Kovganov with him. Kovganov is trying to defend but Smiff has an arm under the chin now! Kovganov grimaces and is forced to tap out!
