The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Souza gets a takedown into half guard.
Souza trying to pass the guard but Rourke defending well.
Rourke is refusing to be controlled, as Souza sits in half guard.
Rourke is trying to maintain the position but Souza is very close to passing his half guard.
Rourke is in trouble now - Souza has advanced to mount!
Rourke is trying to escape the mount.

Souza working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Rourke tries to hold on but Souza pushes him away.
Rourke tries to reverse the position but Souza maintains control.
Rourke wants to control but Souza is having none of it.
Souza looking to control but Rourke is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rourke is trying desperately to improve position.
Rourke is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rourke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souza. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Souza is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rourke has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rourke!
Souza is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Souza looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Souza looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rourke puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rourke takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Souza is controlling Rourke's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Souza makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Souza.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Souza working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rourke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rourke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rourke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Souza swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Souza looking for a sweep. Not yet Souza, not yet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rourke is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Souza looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rourke is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rufio Souza dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Souza changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rourke tries to avoid it but Souza manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rourke to the ground. Rourke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rourke digs a good hook to Souza's body.
Rourke is looking to clinch but Souza is avoiding it.
Souza dodges the punch combination from Rourke.
Rourke stuffs the takedown.
Rourke misses with a takedown

and Souza counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Souza has gone for a leg lock! Rourke slips out almost immediately though and dives into Souza's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rourke is sitting in close to Souza's body. Souza has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rourke is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rourke is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Souza.
