Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kiro Kirov (ranked 3473 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Gonawyn (ranked 8771 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiro Kirov had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kiro Kirov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, King Gonawyn!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gonawyn as he avoids it easily.
Gonawyn feints the counter takedown.

Kirov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kirov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gonawyn tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
We've been hearing good reports from Kirov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kirov looking to control but Gonawyn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gonawyn is looking to get to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gonawyn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kirov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gonawyn is squirming around, avoiding Kirov's attempts to control the action.
Gonawyn gets back to half guard.
Kirov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gonawyn is looking for a sweep. Kirov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kirov thows a huge punch but Gonawyn dodges it nicely.
Kirov keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Gonawyn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kirov pulls his head out easily.
Kirov missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Kirov is working for a submission of some sort.
Gonawyn avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kirov.

Kirov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kirov trying to control the action but Gonawyn is working from the bottom.
Kirov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kirov not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kirov shoots in for a takedown but Gonawyn shows good takedown defense.
Kirov sets himself, and Gonawyn steps forward looking for the clinch! Kirov avoids it this time.

Gonawyn changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gonawyn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Gonawyn wants to counter with a clinch but Kirov pushes him away.
Kiro Kirov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kirov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gonawyn circles away.
Gonawyn wants to counter the offense by Kirov and move into the clinch position.
Kirov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gonawyn but Gonawyn pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gonawyn tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kirov shoots in looking for a takedown but Gonawyn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kirov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Gonawyn counters with a single leg into guard. Kirov didn't expect that.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gonawyn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Gonawyn dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Gonawyn has one foot on Kirov's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Kirov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gonawyn tries to avoid it but Kirov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gonawyn to the ground. Gonawyn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kirov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gonawyn tries to counter with a clinch but Kirov shakes him off and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kirov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kirov closes the distance and clinches up with Gonawyn, looking for a takedown. Kirov pushes Gonawyn against the cage but Gonawyn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kirov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gonawyn's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kirov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kiro Kirov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gonawyn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kirov's guard.

Gonawyn cracks Kirov with a solid left hand.
Kirov controls Gonawyn momentarily but Gonawyn frees himself.
Kirov wants to sweep here but Gonawyn controlling him for the moment.

Kirov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gonawyn stacks Kirov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gonawyn!
Kirov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kirov tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gonawyn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kirov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gonawyn tries for a kimura but Kirov is defending well.

Gonawyn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gonawyn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Kirov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

King Gonawyn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Kirov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gonawyn to the ground. Kirov is now in Gonawyn's guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Gonawyn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gonawyn is nestled in close to Kirov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kirov keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Gonawyn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kirov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kirov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gonawyn scores with a couple of nice shots.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

King Gonawyn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gonawyn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
