Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Baker (ranked 3301 p4p, 289 weight class) and Thing Thing (ranked 1726 p4p, 180 weight class). Thing is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Thing. Jonny Baker has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonny Baker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thing Thing!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Baker is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Thing bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Thing throws an elbow but Baker slips to the side and avoids it well.
We've been hearing good reports from Baker's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Thing landing a few strikes.
Thing working the ground and pound but Baker is defending the strikes.
Baker parries the strikes from Thing easily there. Thing is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Baker to escape.

Thing tries to score with some ground and pound. Baker controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thing is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Thing working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Baker's head.
Thing postures up and lands a big shot to Baker's brow.

Thing throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Baker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Baker seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thing with a flurry of punches that miss.
Baker keeping moving, preventing Thing from controlling successfully.
Thing has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Thing throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Baker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Thing is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Thing throws a strike but Baker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Thing is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Baker defends well.

Thing is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Baker is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Thing is looking for a triangle here but Baker uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Thing has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Baker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Thing has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Baker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baker tries to land a front kick but Thing steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Baker tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Thing closes the distance and clinches.
Baker is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Thing goes for a takedown attempt but Baker pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Baker swings away with a body shot that misses

and Thing counters by moving into the clinch.
Thing misses with a punch to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
With the fighters up against the cage, Thing throws an elbow but misses.
Thing tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jonny Baker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thing Thing.
Thing tries to stall but Baker uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Thing Thing.
I think Thing has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
