PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Morrow (ranked 2438 p4p, 267 weight class) and Kanan Owi (ranked 3366 p4p, 357 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Morrow might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Judas Priest - Breaking The Law. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Morrow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kanan Owi!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Morrow fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Morrow lands a nice hook to Owi's body. Owi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A head kick misses from Morrow.
A solid leg kick lands there for Owi.
Owi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Owi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Morrow feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Owis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owi looks to clinch
and Morrow counters with a nice body shot.
Owi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Morrow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Owi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Morrow is able to avoid easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick by Owi misses
letting Morrow counter with a right hand.
Owi has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Owi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Morrow. Morrow obviously looking to wear him down.
Morrow misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Owi tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Morrow darts in and clinches Owi up against the cage.
Morrow tries to work over Owi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Owi swings wildly with an uppercut but Morrow uses good head movement to avoid it.
Morrow lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Owi.
Owi misses with the head strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Owi throws a punch but it's blocked by Morrow.

Morrow breaks from the clinch.
Owi throws a leg kick
and Morrow counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A looping hook to the body misses from Morrow. Owi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Morrow pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Owi back to the cage. Morrow follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Owi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Morrow looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Owi looks winded!
Morrow checks a leg kick.
Owi misses with a leg kick
and Morrow counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Morrow connects with a high kick.

Owi is rocked!
and Morrow counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Owi! He's just covering up as Morrow starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Morrow!
