Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Dreyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Rees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rees has chosen White Room as his entrance music. Rufus Dreyer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rufus Dreyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Rees!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rees avoids a punch combination nicely.

Rees shoots in and bounces Dreyer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dreyer trying to strike off his back.
Rees stopping the sweep attempt from Dreyer.

Dreyer looking for a guillotine here but Rees defends easily.
Dreyer managing to control the position.
Dreyer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rees stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dreyer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rees working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rees pushing down on Dreyer's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Dreyer misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Dreyer manages to get to full guard.
Dreyer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rees's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dreyer controlling from the top position.

Dreyer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rees is looking for a triangle here but Dreyer uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Rees is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Dreyer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dreyer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rees sneaks back into half guard.
Dreyer missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Rees is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Dreyer pulls his head out easily.
Dreyer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rees is trying to maintain the position but Dreyer is very close to passing his half guard.
Rees wants to improve his position but Dreyer is controlling well.
Rees looks gassed!
Dreyer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rees keeps working.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dreyer lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Rees is looking to close the distance but Dreyer sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Rees crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Rees is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Rufus Dreyer!
