And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana shoots in but no luck this time.
Santana dives in and grabs Gowdy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gowdy pushes down on Santana's head and hops out.
Gowdy throws a sloppy head kick and Santana moves out of range easily.
Gowdy gets caught flat footed, as Santana shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Gowdy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Santana sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gowdy's guard.
Santana seems to be looking for submissions.

Santana works his foot free and advances to mount.
Santana in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santana is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gowdy is surviving well by controlling Santana's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santana is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Gowdy is in real trouble.
