Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Braxton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pappa Ginney!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ginney misses with a hook. Braxton ducked under it nicely.
Braxton scores with a kick to the body.
Ginney lands a lovely overhand right.
Ginney lands a leg kick that knocks Braxton off balance momentarily.
Ginney throws a shot from downtown. Braxton moves away and avoids it.
Braxton gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ginney counters with a stiff right hand.
Braxton defending well as Ginney loads up on a big left hand.
Braxton throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ginney.
Braxton avoids the body shot from Ginney.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Braxton moves to clinch but Ginney breaks away
letting Ginney counter with a right hand.
Braxton on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Braxton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ginney sprawls well. Ginney wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Braxton gets slowly back to his feet.

Braxton wants to slow Ginney down by chopping away at his legs.

Ginney misses with a looping right.
Ginney thuds his right hand into Braxton's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Braxton gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Ginney counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerry Braxton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Donk. Ginney catches Braxton right on the button with a cross.

Braxton darts in and clinches Ginney up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Braxton successfully pulls guard.
Ginney wants to pass the guard but Braxton is keeping the position.
Ginney must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ginney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Ginney is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ginney stops Braxton from standing up.
My spies in Cozad The Island inform me that Ginney has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Braxton working for a triangle but Ginney defends it easily.

Braxton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ginney is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ginney throwing strikes from guard but Braxton blocks nicely.
Ginney tries to stand but Braxton is controlling from the bottom.
Ginney controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Ginney is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Braxton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Braxton has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Braxton showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Braxton throws a big right hand that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pappa Ginney will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Braxton takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Braxton ducks right into an uppercut from Ginney.
Braxton throws a head kick that misses.
Braxton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ginney tries to avoid it but Braxton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ginney to the ground. Ginney escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Braxton takes a swing at Ginney's ribcage but misses.

and Braxton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ginney won't be happy with that.
Braxton trying to control the action but Ginney is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ginney tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Braxton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Braxton misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Braxton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ginney keeps working.
Ginney is looking to reverse the position.
Ginney holds on to Braxton's head and controls the position momentarily.
Ginney tries to get back to half guard but can't.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ginney regains half guard.
Ginney wants to get back to full guard.
Braxton controlling the pace.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Braxton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ginney does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Braxton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ginney scores with a nice head shot.

Ginney cracks the inside of Braxton's front leg.
Ginney avoids the head kick by Braxton.
Braxton has his takedown stuffed
and Ginney counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ginney stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerry Braxton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Braxton tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Ginney counters with a two punch combo.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Braxton takes one on the button.
Ginney uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Braxton.

and Ginney counters with a right hand to the body.

Jerry Braxton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Braxton takes one to the chin there.
Ginney connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Ginney dips to his left and cracks Braxton with an uppercut!
Ginney scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Braxton drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ginney throws a low kick but it's checked well by Braxton.
It looked like Braxton was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Braxton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ginney.
Braxton gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ginney connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pappa Ginney showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Braxton is looking to clinch.

and Braxton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ginney swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Braxton.
Braxton looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pappa Ginney seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ginney fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Braxton checks it well.
Ginney jabs Braxton right on the nose. Braxton blinks but takes it well.
Braxton shoots in but no luck this time.
Ginney lands with an uppercut that bounces Braxton off the cage and back into range.
Braxton fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ginney smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

It looks like Jerry Braxton has been cut.
Braxton on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ginney lands a right hook to the body.
Ginney connects with a single shot there.
Braxton takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Braxton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ginney.
Braxton tries to clinch but Ginney is having none of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ginney dodges the punch combination from Braxton.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Braxton on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ginney cracks Braxton with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ginney connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Pappa Ginney is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Braxton tries to clinch but Ginney is having none of it.
As Braxton backs off Ginney throws a huge counter combo but Braxton manages to avoid it all.
Braxton closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ginney lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Braxton with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ginney to score with a decent uppercut.
Braxton tries to clinch up but Ginney circles away and keeps his distance.
Ginney cracks the inside of Braxton's front leg.
Braxton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
It seemed like Ginney was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Ginney gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Braxton to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ginney has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Braxton is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ginney is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ginney has escaped and now he's on top!

Ginney slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Braxton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ginney can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

I've got Ginney winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
