Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Lawrence (ranked 834 p4p, 112 weight class) and OJ Pines (ranked 1282 p4p, 170 weight class). Lawrence kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is No Surrender. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pines connects with the punch.
Lawrence tries to bum rush Pines with a series of wild strikes but Pines uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lawrence tries to clinch but Pines is having none of it.
Pines punishes Lawrence's body with a nice straight punch.
Pines fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lawrence manages to avoid it.
Pines looks to land a right hand but Lawrence moved out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

It looked like Lawrence was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pines lands with a hook. Lawrence tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Pines throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lawrence.
Pines swings for the body but Lawrence moves out of range.
Lawrence ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Pines gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lawrence to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pines is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lawrence defends well.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Lawrence is landing with some decent strikes but Pines is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

A big strike lands for Lawrence! That's really hurt Pines and he's turned his back - Lawrence keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Lawrence jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Lawrence!
John Lawrence made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Put him in a body bag!'.
