PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shik Jang (ranked 3566 p4p, 366 weight class) and Murad Tursunboev (ranked 2853 p4p, 0 weight class). Jang has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shik Jang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Murad Tursunboev!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jang is looking to clinch.
Tursunboev takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jang tries to clinch but Tursunboev moves out of range.
Jang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tursunboev shoots in looking for a takedown. Jang tries to sprawl out of it but Tursunboev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jang manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tursunboev goes for a double leg but Jang avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jang continues to drive forward.

Tursunboev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jang wanted to stand there but Tursunboev had control of the position.

Jang throws a sloppy head kick and Tursunboev moves out of range easily.

Tursunboev moves into the clinch.
Tursunboev is pushing Jang up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Jang is pressed up against the cage. Tursunboev has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jang down to the mat. Jang avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jang plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tursunboev has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jang after a bit of a struggle.

Tursunboev shoots for a double leg takedown but Jang sprawls well. He's pushed Tursunboev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jang is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Tursunboev is defending well for now.
Tursunboev drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jang pulls his leg out and moves away.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Shik Jang is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Tursunboev shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tursunboev showed some decent athleticism there.

Jang kicks Tursunboev off and gets back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shik Jang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jang, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
