PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Malaki Fiso (ranked 507 p4p, 61 weight class) and Taylor Jack (ranked 183 p4p, 28 weight class). Fiso comes into the arena with The Lord's Prayer (In Samoan) blaring out of the sound system. Jack has chosen Lucid Dreams as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malaki Fiso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Taylor Jack!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fiso paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Fiso turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jack misses with a wild body shot.
Jack throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jack pivots, looking for a leg kick but Fiso is out of range and Jack settles back down.
Fiso pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fiso uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jack.
Jack takes a swing at Fiso's ribcage but misses.
Malaki Fiso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fiso fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fiso throws the left hand but Jack avoids the punch easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jack staying out of range there.
Jack looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Fiso tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Fiso bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've been informed that Jack has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Jack takes a swing at Fiso's ribcage but misses.
Fiso throws a body shot but no joy.
Jack takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Fiso doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Fiso cracks the inside of Jack's front leg.
Fiso ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fiso has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Fiso misses with a looping left.
Fiso throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jack tries a quick counter leg kick but Fiso is wise to it.
A big right from Fiso misses.
Jack lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jack cracks Fiso with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Jack throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

A jab from Fiso does it's job there.
Fiso connects with the punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fiso lands a leg kick that knocks Jack off balance momentarily.
Fiso throws a sloppy body shot
and Jack counters with a straight right hand.
Jack scores with a jab to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jack.

Fiso gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Fiso misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Fiso gets control of Jack's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fiso will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Fiso is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jack is trying to control. Fiso wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That was a close round but I would say that Malaki Fiso will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jack walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Fiso looks to land a combination but Jack avoids it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fiso smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Fiso fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jack on the side of the head.

and Fiso counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Fiso counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Fiso gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Jack connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A punch lands to the side of Fiso 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Oh Fiso is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Malaki Fiso is winning the standup battle so far.

Fiso uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jack.
Fiso seems to have got his legs back now.
Fiso looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Jack has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Jack throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fiso stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

A bone on bone clash there as Fiso blocks the leg kick.
Jack motions for Fiso to come forward. Jack throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jack keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fiso lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jack at a distance.
Jack walks into a stiff left hand from Fiso.
Jack lands with a hook. Fiso tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It seemed like Jack was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

A little feinted left hand from Fiso on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Fiso has Jack up against the ropes in a clinch.
Jack makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Fiso wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jack tries a body shot but Fiso blocks it.

Jack's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jack scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jack throws a hook but Fiso avoids it easily.
Fiso getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jack appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Jack lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Jack has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Fiso.
Fiso throws a series of punches but Jack avoids them all with ease.

Jack throws a low kick, looking for Fiso's leg but Fiso calmly moves out of range.
Jack throws a jab but it's blocked by Fiso.
Fiso rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Jack to counter with a crisp jab.
Fiso does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Fiso fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jack throws a body shot but no joy.
Fiso buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Fiso throws a leg kick which misses Jack's front leg but catches the back leg as Jack tries to avoid it.

Fiso fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Fiso misses the target.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fiso throws an overhand right that lands on Jack's shoulder, as Jack tries to avoid the shot.
Fiso moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Malaki Fiso is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jack throws a shot from downtown. Fiso moves away and avoids it.
Jack looks to land a left hand but Fiso moved out of range nicely.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Malaki Fiso.
Well Fiso has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
