Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Paiva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramirez has chosen Get Money by Stat Quo & Young Jeezy as his entrance music. Thiago Ramirez looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Paiva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paiva clinches up against the cage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Paiva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ramirez sizes up Paiva with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Paiva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ramirez wants to stand and escape but Paiva is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Paiva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ramirez defends it well.

Paiva is nestled in close to Ramirez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Paiva goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ramirez rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Paiva's guard! Nice work there by Ramirez!

Ramirez throws a jab when Paiva was well out of range.
Paiva avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ramirez bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Paiva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Paiva showed some decent athleticism there.
Paiva is taking a breather. Ramirez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paiva is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Paiva takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ramirez is staying active underneath Paiva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Paiva connects with a nice short shot to Ramirez's temple.

Paiva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paiva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That was a close second round but I would say that Roger Paiva will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Paiva shoots in for a double leg but Ramirez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
