Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Gold (ranked 5891 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hogan (ranked 7055 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hogan's choice of entrance music: In The End - Linkin Park. John Hogan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimbo Gold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Hogan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan fails with the takedown.
Gold throws a right hand that Hogan ducks under and follows up with a left that Hogan also avoids with ease.
Hogan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gold defends it nicely.
Hogan closes the distance and clinches up with Gold, looking for a takedown. Hogan pushes Gold against the cage but Gold circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gold looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Jimbo Gold has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Hogan.

Gold gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold jumps guard but Hogan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Gold breaks from the clinch.

Hogan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gold knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hogan on the ground.

Gold is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hogan defends well.

Hogan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Gold wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Gold not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hogan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hogan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hogan drops back looking for a leg! Gold is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gold manages to kick Hogan off! Hogan jumps back into Gold's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hogan won't allow Gold to get back to his feet.
Gold utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hogan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hogan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gold's guard.

Hogan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gold looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gold looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gold!

Hogan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gold's best efforts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hogan looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hogan actively working from the bottom here.

Gold is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hogan defends it well.
Hogan is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Gold jumps into side control!
Hogan tries to improve position but can't.

Hogan gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gold seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hogan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hogan looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hogan is refusing to be controlled, as Gold sits in half guard.
Hogan is pressing down on Gold's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hogan is looking to cinch up a triangle. Gold throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hogan's body to avoid the submission. Hogan has instead reached around Gold's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hogan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). John Hogan!
