PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brent Kramer (ranked 24044 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lauris Darzins (ranked 3303 p4p, 349 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Brent Kramer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lauris Darzins!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kramer moves in looking to clinch but Darzins pushes him off.
Darzins throws a series of punches but Kramer avoids them all with ease.
Kramer changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Darzins.
Darzins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kramer as he avoids it easily.
Darzins throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Darzins gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Kramer jumps guard but Darzins turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kramer wants to take the fight to the mat but Darzins manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kramer tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Darzins's elbow.

Darzins has Kramer pressed against the cage, preventing Kramer from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Darzins pushes Kramer back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Kramer drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Darzins is trying to trip Kramer. He has hold of a leg but Kramer is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Darzins persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kramer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Darzins closes the distance and pushes Kramer back into the cage.

Darzins is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kramer instigates a clinch.
Kramer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Darzins smiles and moves away.
Kramer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kramer wants it to stay on the feet.
Kramer appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Darzins ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Darzins no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kramer is fighting to break Darzins's control of his arms but Darzins is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Darzins has a closed guard, preventing Kramer from standing up.
Darzins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kramer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Darzins feints the counter takedown.
Darzins throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Lauris Darzins seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Darzins shoots for a double leg takedown but Kramer sprawls well. He's pushed Darzins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Brent Kramer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kramer moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kramer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Darzins shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Kramer is on queer street and Darzins is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!
