Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Diaz (ranked 5195 p4p, 488 weight class) and Jay Gatsby (ranked 5431 p4p, 498 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tony Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Gatsby! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Diaz with that takedown attempt. Gatsby looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Gatsby misses with a double jab
and Diaz counters with a right hand to the body. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Gatsby. Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gatsby swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gatsby throws a nice looking combination but Diaz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gatsby misses with a body shot. Gatsby tries to sprawl out of it but Diaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gatsby manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Gatsby looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Gatsby connects with a right hand. Diaz shakes it off. Diaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Diaz.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to clinch up enabling Gatsby to counter with a crisp jab. Gatsby dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Diaz dodges the punch combination from Gatsby.

Gatsby lands with a nice combination. Diaz backs away looking to recover. Gatsby uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Diaz has time to react. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gatsby throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Diaz takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gatsby pinned against the cage. Diaz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gatsby on his heels. He'll look to pass Gatsby's guard now, I'm sure. Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gatsby has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Diaz has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Diaz breaks from the clinch.

Gatsby takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Jay Gatsby seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gatsby ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away. Gatsby tests Diaz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Diaz throws a head kick that misses. Gatsby misses the shot to the body. Diaz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Gatsby. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Gatsby throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range. Gatsby has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gatsby misses with an uppercut. Nice sprawl there from Gatsby as Diaz shoots in.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gatsby works Diaz's body with a nice hook. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gatsby bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Gatsby jabs Diaz to the body, keeping him at a distance. Gatsby moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gatsby pinned against the cage. Gatsby gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A combination from Gatsby does no damage. Tony Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Diaz. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Gatsby showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Nope, Gatsby circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Gatsby throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gatsby throws a body shot but no joy. Diaz walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice cross by Gatsby. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jab from Gatsby. Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Diaz dives in and grabs Gatsby's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gatsby pushes down on Diaz's head and hops out. Gatsby scores with a one two! Diaz had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Diaz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gatsby.
Jay Gatsby is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gatsby lands with a straight right. Diaz didn't see that one coming. Gatsby throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Diaz. Gatsby thuds his right hand into Diaz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Gatsby paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gatsby's waist but Gatsby gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side. Sloppy strikes from Gatsby. Those never looked like landing. Good shot there by Gatsby. Gatsby throws a shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gatsby leaves Diaz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Gatsby tests Diaz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Diaz walks into a stiff left hand from Gatsby. Diaz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Diaz looks for a takedown but Gatsby sprawls well.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Gatsby comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gatsby has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Jay Gatsby! Jay Gatsby decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
