PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liangchan Xiaodong (ranked 3959 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reinaldo Araujo (ranked 3818 p4p, 0 weight class). Xiaodong has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Liangchan Xiaodong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reinaldo Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo throws a right and a left that Xiaodong avoids nicely.

Araujo closes the distance and clinches.

Xiaodong breaks the clinch.

Araujo gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Araujo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Araujo moves into range and clinches up with Xiaodong.

Araujo breaks the clinch.
Araujo lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Araujo stuffs the takedown attempt from Xiaodong. Xiaodong gets slowly back to his feet.
Xiaodong is breathing heavily.
Xiaodong shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Araujo as he avoids it easily.
Araujo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Xiaodong throws a big counter combination but Araujo scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Araujo clinches up with Xiaodong and pushes him back against the cage.
Araujo is looking to take this one to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Araujo tries for a takedown. No joy.
Xiaodong is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Liangchan Xiaodong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reinaldo Araujo.
Araujo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Xiaodong is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Araujo manages to break the clinch.
Xiaodong shoots in but Araujo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That kick from Araujo tenderised Xiaodong's leg. Xiaodong is trying to keep his angry face on.
Xiaodong circles away from the clinch attempt.
Xiaodong looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Araujo tries to close the distance and clinch but Xiaodong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Xiaodong shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Araujo as he jumps to the side.

Araujo lands a head kick that stumbles Xiaodong and the fighters go to the mat.


Xiaodong is rocked!


It looks like Liangchan Xiaodong has been cut.
Araujo loads up on a big left hand. Xiaodong felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Araujo looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Xiaodong can't hide his disappointment, as Araujo celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Reinaldo Araujo!
