PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hill (ranked 464 p4p, 9 weight class) and Hijack Dabutt (ranked 790 p4p, 34 weight class). Hijack Dabutt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hijack Dabutt!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill shoots in for a takedown but Dabutt shows good takedown defense.
Hill throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hill fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hill misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Hill. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hill shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dabutt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dabutt wants to stand but Hill is controlling the position.
Hill missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hill is in close to Dabutt's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill throwing strikes from guard but Dabutt blocks nicely.
Hill trying to control the position from guard on top but Dabutt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hill in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Hill throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hill is looking to work some ground and pound but Dabutt has wrist control.
Hill lands a couple of digs.
Hill not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hill prevents Dabutt from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hill is looking to work some ground and pound but Dabutt has wrist control.
Hill with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hill throws a strike but Dabutt rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hill bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dabutt's guard.

Hill throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Hill advances to half guard.
Dabutt blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hill.
Hill seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hill thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dabutt's head.
Hill has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Dabutt wants to get back to his feet.
Dabutt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hill sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dabutt defending well though.
Hill is trying to control the action in half guard but Dabutt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hill trying to mount his opponent but Dabutt defends it.

Hill missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Hill lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hill stops Dabutt from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Hill sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dabutt defending well though.
Dabutt has hold of Hill's hands but Hill slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hill wants to take a breather but Dabutt is having none of it.
Hill thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Dabutt pushes Hill off looking to stand but Hill dives back in and keeps control.
Hill passes the guard and advances to mount!
Dabutt wants to try and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hill with a couple of short strikes.
Hill throwing strikes here but Dabutt is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Hill working the ground and pound effectively.


Dabutt is rocked!
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Hill! Dabutt is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mark Hill!
Mark Hill decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
