The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Partridge dives in and grabs Carilli's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carilli pushes down on Partridge's head and hops out.
Carilli leaves Partridge with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Carilli looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Partridge is fending him off so far but Carilli persists. Nope, Partridge circles away and we're back to standing.
Carilli shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Partridge defends it nicely.
Partridge is looking for a counter combo.
Carilli stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carilli wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barry Partridge. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Partridge shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Carilli is trying to defend but Partridge finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Partridge looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carilli with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Partridge working over Carilli with some ground and pound. Carilli looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Partridge has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carilli can do anything to dispel that myth.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Partridge connects with a nice short shot to Carilli's temple.
Partridge seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Carilli has hold of Partridge's hands but Partridge slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Carilli is rocked!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Partridge lands a nice short elbow.
Carilli is still in real trouble! Can Partridge finish him?
Partridge lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Carilli! More strikes land and this one is all over! Partridge jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
