The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright Phillps throws a body kick that misses.
Smith checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Smith throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Wright Phillps shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wright Phillps showed some decent athleticism there.
Wright Phillps wants to get back to his feet.
Smith wants to get back to full guard but Wright Phillps has passed into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright Phillps misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Wright Phillps has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wright Phillps is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Smith's shoulder. That is not cool.

Wright Phillps is working to tighten his grip on Smith's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Smith has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Wright Phillps is really squeezing tight and eventually Smith passes out! Wright Phillps breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
